Meaning of FROM NOW ON and FOREVER AND EVER - A Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English when you say

that you are going to do something from now on

it means that you are going to start doing it now

and you are going to keep doing it.

Oftentimes people will say this

when they're talking about exercise.

Maybe you think you should start to walk everyday,

you could say to someone,

"From now on, I'm going to go for a walk everyday.

"Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,

"Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

"I'm going to go for a walk.

"From now on I'm going to walk everyday."

You could also use this in the negative,

you can talk about things that you are going to quit doing.

Maybe you are a smoker, you could say,

"From now on, I'm going to not smoke.

"From now on, every time I think about having a cigarette

"I'm just going to think to myself, no.

"From now on, I am not doing that anymore."

So when you say that you are going to do something

from now on, it means that you are going to do it,

and you are going to keep doing it forever.

Which brings me to my second phrase,

which is forever and ever.

When you do something forever and ever

it means that you're going to do it forever

but you're just emphasizing it a little bit more.

So when you say,

"I am going to walk everyday, forever and ever."

It means that you're going to do it

for the rest of your life.

So when you say that you are going to do something

from now on, it means that you're going to start now,

and you're going to keep doing it.

And if you're going to do something forever and ever,

it means that you are going to keep doing it

until the end of time.
