Meaning of FED UP and HAD ENOUGH - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English, when we say, "I'm fed up.",

it means that you don't want any more of something.

Right now, in Canada, we are getting a lot of snow,

and I love snow, but people who don't like snow

might say, "I'm fed up with all the snow

"that we have around."

You see behind me, we got a nice dumping

of snow this morning.

Because I like snow, I wouldn't say that,

but you could also say "I'm fed up."

when you are talking about someone's behavior.

Maybe you have a friend who isn't very nice to you,

and you could say, "I'm fed up with them

"not being nice to me."

"I'm fed up with them being mean."

So when you're fed up with something,

it means that you don't want to experience it any more,

you don't want to see it any more.

So again, some people might say I'm fed up,

when they look at all this snow.

I certainly wouldn't, because I really, really like it.

We have another phrase in English

that means the same thing,

and that phrase is, "I've had enough."

So again, if we look at the snow here,

I'm sure some people are saying,

"I've had enough of this snow."

"I just want to go to someplace"

"where it's a lot warmer than Canada,"

or they might say, "I'm fed up with all this snow."

So again, two phrases, when you are fed up with something

or when you have had enough of something,

it means that you don't want to see any more of it

or experience any more of it.
