Of course not! I mean it always happens.  The idiom 'it's the story of my life'

means that 'a bad thing that has  happened to you has happened many

times before'. It happens often. So,  every time I go on holiday it rains.

Bad luck! But you're not the only one who's had bad luck. Listen to these examples:

Yes that's it! Our phrase today is two words  with many different meanings - 'excuse me'.

I see. So when you sneeze or make a rude  noise you can apologise by saying excuse me.

Exactly. And when I wanted you to move,  so that I could reach for the tissues,

I said excuse me to politely ask you to move  so that I could reach them. A bit like this:

We have an expression that you can use if you  just don't believe someone. It's 'I don't buy it'.

'I don't buy it'. Tell us a bit more;  it's not connected to shopping, is it?

No Neil, the only thing that  escaped was her name from my memory.

아니요 Neil, 유일하게 탈출한 것은 내 기억에 있는 그녀의 이름뿐이었습니다.

When we say 'something escapes me' we mean  'we can't remember something at that moment'.

'무언가가 나에게서 벗어나다'라고 말할 때 ' 그 순간에는 아무것도 기억할 수 없다'는 의미입니다.

I'm sure her name will come to me eventually.

나는 그녀의 이름이 결국 나에게 올 것이라고 확신합니다.

Neil, but what hasn't escaped me is these examples.

We have an expression which is used to say  you have nothing left of something specific,  

구체적인 것,

particularly something that other people want.

특히 다른 사람들이 원하는 것이 아무것도 남지 않았다고 말할 때 사용하는 표현이 있습니다.

The phrase is 'I'm out'.  Other pronouns can be used,  

문구는 '나는 아웃'이다. 다른 대명사를 사용할 수 있으므로

so we can say 'we're out' or 'you're out' as well.

'we're out' 또는 'you're out'이라고 말할 수도 있습니다.

'I'm out'. Let's let's talk about how we use it.

'나는 나갔다'. 어떻게 사용하는지 이야기해 봅시다.

Well Feifei, do you remember that  amazing new coffee I've been drinking?

I know you like it and I was going  to get you some for your birthday,

Well I thought that, but it turned out there was a

complete shortage of coffee. They were  out of everything; they only had tea!

It doesn't sound like a great shop if they don't  have enough stock. So, did you buy me some tea?

I wanted to, but then I realised I  didn't have any money; I was out!

Let's hear some more examples:

- 'I'm doing a sponsored run, can you give  me some change?' - 'Sorry, um, I'm all out.'

- 'Are you still giving away free chocolate?' - 'Sorry, we're out.'

'I can't believe how popular that new book  was! We're out already. Let's order more.'

'그 새 책이 얼마나 인기가 있었는지 믿을 수가 없어요 ! 우리는 이미 나왔습니다. 더 주문하자.'

and we're learning the expression 'I'm out', which  is a way of saying you have no more of something.

Now, we've been using out but it's also

really common to say 'I'm all  out' or 'I'm completely out'.

'나 완전 아웃이야', '완전 아웃이야'라고 말하는 것도 정말 흔한 일이잖아요.

It is! It means the same but just  adds more emphasis to the fact that

you really don't have any more.  It's very often used with money.

이상 가지고 있지 않다는 사실을 더 강조할 뿐입니다. 돈과 관련하여 자주 사용됩니다.
