How to say THIS vs. THESE | American English pronunciation

I want to talk to you today about the two words: "this" and "these".

今日は、 「これ」と「これら」という 2 つの言葉についてお話したいと思います。

I often hear people pronounce them the same, something like 'this' and

「これ」と「

'this', and then it sounds like they're making a grammar mistake when it's

これ」のように同じように発音しているのをよく耳にしますが、実際には発音が 間違っているのに、

actually a pronunciation mistake.

文法を間違えているように聞こえます。

So let's get this thing straight once and for all.

それでは、このことを 一度だけ整理しましょう。

Let's start with a singular form.

単数形から始めましょう。

This, this.

これこれ。

We begin with a strong TH sound.

強いTHの音から始めます。

Bring your tongue out to touch the upper teeth, release air, and sound.

舌を出して 上の歯に触れ、空気を放出し、音を出します。

Then shift to an 'i' as in sit vowel - 'thi' 'thi', and end it with an S.

次に、sit母音のように「i」にシフトします -「thi」「thi」、そしてSで終わります。

This, this.

The word "these", the plural form, begins with a strong TH sound as well,

but then it's a high E - 'thee' 'thee'.

So it's longer and tenser, 'thee'.
