Give Perfect English Answers Every Time | ENGLISH FLUENCY 5Ws Episode 3

Welcome to part three of our series.

In this series, I have been helping you, my friend, finally understand

how to speak English fluently using a simple method, the five W's method,

who, what, when, where, and why.

In this episode of our series, I am going to teach you how to answer any question

perfectly using the five W's method.

Are you ready?

Well then let's jump right in.

Alright, just like the first two lessons of our series, this

lesson is also based on six days.

So we are moving to day 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

All right, so these are the days that are focused on for this part of our series.

Now, the very first thing we're gonna look at is answering a question using.

The five Ws.

So let's go to day 13.

Now, I want you to check out these examples very quickly in these questions.

What's happening is we are recognizing which of the five

Ws can be found in the question.

Look at question number one.

Question number one is when you were in high school, who

was your favorite teacher?

What are we focusing on?

We're focusing on the who you see what's happening, right?

The five Ws can be seen in any question, in any response, and

in anything that a person says in English, we can recognize the five Ws.

So let's look at the second question.

Again, we're on day 13, the very first part before we dive into the details.

Here's another question.

What do you do in the evening when you get back home from work?

What's the focus?

What do you do?

Which means we are looking at.

The what again, we are first trying to recognize when someone asks a question,

which of the five Ws can we recognize?

That is the focus Number three.

Look at this Third question.

When was the last time you went on a vacation with your family?

What's the focus?

The time or.

When that's right.

Again, we have to see that in every question we can find one of the

five Ws, and in order to answer the question perfectly, naturally,

and fluently, we have to know which of the five Ws is the focus.

Here's number four.

Where do you like, or where would you like to go after you graduate from university?

The focus.

You guessed it.

The where.

And finally, we have this question, why do you think people

like to spend time together?

The focus, why we wanna know the reason.

So again, each of these questions, once again, these questions, in

these questions, we can see that.

One of the five Ws is represented in each of these questions.

So now it's time for us to go just a bit deeper.

Remember, we are focusing on answering any question using the

five Ws by first recognizing which of the Ws is in the question or is

at the foundation of the question.

So first, let's take a look at some questions that are based.

On the who?

All right.

The who.

Let's look at some example questions.

Let's say, for example, we are looking at who is or who was, all right.

Again, we're looking at the who, the first part of the five W'S method.

An example question using this framework would be when you were in high

school, who was your favorite teacher?

But again, staying with the who, we can say, what is the name of your,

I'm gonna, actually, there's a typo right here, so I'm gonna write this in.

What is the name?

You can type that in.

If you've already downloaded and gotten your ebook, you write that in as well.

All right.

So the question being, what is the name of your favorite celebrity?

What is the focus?

We are focusing on the who?

All right.

Again, seeing the questions.

That have one of the five Ws as their framework.

All right, let's move on to the what again, you'll see other examples as

you're following along with your ebook.

What about the what?

All right, so for the what The question could be formed like this.

What do you do?

And again, we had the question, what do you do in the evening

when you get back home from work?

Another form could be though, what did you.

And the example question could be, what did you do during your last vacation?

Again, you're seeing different forms of the question, but the foundation

is still one of the five Ws.

What about for the win?

Remember, we're on day 13 and we're starting first to

understand how questions.

Really have at their foundation, one of the five Ws.

We have to understand this first before we dive deeper.

All right, you following along?

You can shake your head.

Excellent.

All right.

For the when.

All right, for the when, when was, here's an example question.

When was the last time you went on vacation with your family?

Yes.

We mentioned vacation.

Yes.

We mentioned your family, but the focus is on the when.

Tell me the time period.

Then we have another one.

When is.dot.

So when is your birthday focusing on the time period?

So we have the when.

Now we have the, where again, we have to see different questions that have one of

the W's as their foundation for the where, for example, where would dot, dot dot.

Here's the question.

Where would you like to go after you graduate from university?

Yes.

In the question we can see there's university graduating from university,

but the focus is where, so once again.

Where would you like to go after you graduate from university?

We're focusing on a location, right?

Then we have if dot, dot, dot.

Where would, so here's how the question would look for this one.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

The question yes has different words in it, but we're focusing

on what, where, tell me where.

I'm gonna pause before we get to the why remember.

In order for you to speak English fluency, you must understand the

five W's method, but not just that.

It's who, what, when, where, and why.

You have to understand how this five W's method is in every aspect of

your English journey, understanding how to make short sentences, longer,

understanding how to describe images and situations, understanding

now how to answer any question.

Simply by understanding this five W's method.

So now we have the why.

Again, we're getting our foundation for our lesson today.

The why, let's say, the question is, why do you dot, dot, dot question

being, for example, why do you think people like to spend time together?

Yes, people like spending time together, but why?

That's the focus of this question, which means once you understand the

focus, you'll now know how to answer.

Ooh, I can't wait to get to this part.

All right.

And then another example.

Why is, do, do, do question.

Why is there so much violence in the world?

What's the focus of this question?

Why?

Give me the reason.

All right, so day 13, we now understand that.

Every question has at its root, one of the five Ws, either

who, what, when, lemme see.

There we go.

When, where, or why?

So now let's move on to day 14, because we understand that at the foundation of every

question, one of the five Ws lives, right?

Day 14 now.

Now we have five different questions that we can analyze on day 14.

We're not gonna go over all five in this lesson.

But again, you can do it on your own time when you have your PDF or your ebook.

All right, so again, we have the questions that we already read earlier when you were

in high school, was your favorite teacher.

We have these questions that we read earlier, recognizing each of the five Ws.

Now on day 14, let's take a look at the questions and how we can answer

them using the same w. That is at the foundation of the question.

I have to make sure you understand what is happening right now.

So I want to show you visually.

All right, so again, we're talking about the fact that at the foundation

of every question is one of the five Ws.

Either who, what, when.

Where or why?

So that means when you go to answer, let's slide this over a little bit.

That means when you go to answer the question, right, you wanna answer

the question in your answer, you must include the five, one of the five W's.

That is at the foundation of the question.

So if someone says, where do you want to go on vacation?

That means the foundation of the question is where, which

means in your answer the focus.

The main part of your answer must also be speaking about where does that make sense?

Sometimes when you're giving an answer, when you're speaking English,

you can give too much information.

It's not about using many words because that does not represent

fluency, fluency, English fluency is all about giving the right

information in a clear and concise way.

How does that happen?

Well, you first must recognize which of the five Ws.

Is at the foundation of the question so that you'll be able to include

that information in your response.

This is what English fluency, true English fluency looks like.

Recognizing the foundation of a question and including that in your response.

Now it's making sense, right?

Excellent.

All right, so now day 14, we have our questions.

All right, so we have our questions.

Let's say again the first question is, when you were in high school,

who was your favorite teacher?

What's the focus?

The focus for this question is who?

Who was your favorite teacher?

So to answer this question, I must also include.

Who, the foundation of the question is who?

So the foundation of my response must be who that means.

Now, my response could be my favorite teacher when I was in high school was my

English literature teacher, Mrs. Smith.

My answer included the w That was a part of the question.

You got it right.

Remember, whatever the foundation of the question is, we need to make

sure it's included in our response.

You got it right.

Excellent.

Alright, so now what about the next question?

The next question.

Once again, looking at, still recognizing for the question.

Let's go right here.

Hold on one second.

Here we go.

Alright, so which of the five Ws is in question number two?

Question number two is what do you do in the evening when

you get back home from work?

What's the five W?

Which of the five Ws?

Yes, we're speaking about what?

What do you do?

The first one was who?

Now we have what?

So the response needs to include.

What I did.

Excellent.

When I get home back or back home from work, I usually eat

a snack and watch television.

I'm telling you what I do.

Why?

Because you asked me in the question what I do makes sense, right?

Again.

Recognizing which of the five Ws is in the question will help you

answer properly, including that W In your answer, we're talking about

speaking English fluently, my friend.

Listen, I want you to no longer experience any stress, any frustration part of this.

Removal of frustration, removal of stress is simply understanding the five W's

method, who, what, when, where, and why.

When someone asks you a question, you don't have to be nervous anymore.

Just stop.

All right.

They ask me a question.

Which of the five Ws do they really want to know?

Ah, they wanna know where I want to go.

Okay, cool.

Even if they've used a multitude of words, you know which of the

five Ws they are focusing on.

This is why it's so important.

All right, so again, day 14, recognizing in the question which of the five Ws,

so that you can answer with the W.

All right, so now.

Let's move to day 15 Again, there are other questions on day 14, but

I'll let you study those on your own.

Day 15 also includes three, not three.

Excuse me.

We have five questions.

All right.

Five questions.

Our five questions.

I'll read the questions we have.

What is the name of your favorite celebrity?

What do you do during your last, or what did you do during your last vacation?

When is your birthday?

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

And why is there so much violence in the world?

Once again, these questions are all focused on one of

the five Ws for each of them.

So let's go now and let's check out the last two questions for this page.

Again, we're on day 15 for this day.

Let's look at the last, no, the second.

Lemme see the third and the fourth.

This is the fourth, third, and the fourth, which is question eight.

And question nine.

So question eight, a very simple question.

The question is, when is your birthday, my friend?

Which of the five Ws exactly?

We're focusing on the when.

Excellent.

So since we're focusing on the win, the response is now going to be.

Answering the when my birthday is July 10th.

True story.

So we've answered the when.

Remember, when you can recognize which of the five Ws is a part of

the question, you'll be able to answer that W in your response.

All right.

Now looking at question number nine.

Again, we're still on day 14.

So question number nine, we have.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

What is the focus?

Which of the five Ws we are looking at?

Yes, the where, where would you go?

So my response needs to answer, where would I go?

So here's my response.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to.

Brazil, I have answered the where, remember, your response needs to

include information about the W. That was a part of the question.

It's making sense now, right?

It seems almost too easy, but this is exactly what you have to do.

So again, we're answering the question.

By recognizing which part of the question is related to which of certain parts

or a certain a certain w. Here we go.

All right, so now we are back.

So now let's go to day 17.

Day 17.

All right, day 17, again, we have a series of questions and we're

gonna recognize which of the Ws is connected to the questions.

So I'll quickly read the question.

Who would you want to be if you could be born again?

What are you going to do this weekend?

When will you receive your package?

Where is the best place to go on a date?

And why did you go to the bank?

Simple questions, but what's happening?

We are able to recognize which of the Ws are the basis.

Or is the basis for each of the questions.

So let's look at two of the questions I'm gonna go to.

Again, we're on day 17.

Let's look at the last two questions.

So let's look at question number 19 and question number 20.

Alright.

Again, you can always practice on your own time after this lesson is over.

So question number 19, where is the best place to go on a date?

What are we focusing on?

Yes.

Where, so where is the best place?

So our response, the best place to go on a date is the park downtown.

I answered the w, the where?

The park downtown.

What about question number 20?

Question number 20.

Why did you go to the bank?

What is the question we're focusing on?

Yes, the why give me the reason.

So our answer must include the reason or why.

Excellent.

I went to the bank because I needed to deposit some money.

I have answered the why.

Okay, so you're seeing again what's happening when you recognize what's

at the foundation of the question.

Which of the five Ws?

Now on day 18 we have your review day.

Now you are looking at this with me right now.

I wanna show you this and see it even larger.

Look how many questions and responses.

There are a total of 20 questions and responses that you can review,

helping you recognize which of the five Ws are at the foundation, right

at the foundation of each question.

So that you can practice, listen to me.

I'm telling you, the more you practice, the easier it will become

for you to recognize the W in a question that someone is asking you.

You'll have more confidence when you're able to recognize the W in

the question when you're able to see, ah, man, this simple five W's method.

Oh yeah, baby, it works.

I'm telling you, the confidence is gonna be out of this world.

You are gonna feel more confident.

You are gonna be able to understand and not be stressed.

The person may ask you a complex, complicated question with lots of

words, but the moment you recognize, ah, this is the main idea, this

is what they really wanna know.

You can answer no matter how complicated the question is.

I want you to be confident, and again, part of speaking English

fluently is being able to recognize what someone is really asking you.

So on day 18, you're going to be able to review.

The example questions and the example answers, and then

give your own answers as well.

It's it's story time.

Hey, hey.

I said the story time.

Okay, listen, I feel like this month I've just been telling

you so many funny stories.

Here's another funny story again, another story that brings and puts

a smile on my face and makes me chuckle every time I think about it.

So.

I was in Korea for about 10 years.

I was an English teacher and I loved it.

Hence why I still teach English now, and you can tell it's

written all over my face.

I absolutely love it.

Right.

So at this time I had been in Korea for I think about a year, and I

was teaching adults and children.

And this semester, this term, I had been given a class with little people.

It was my first time teaching kids that were about six, I think they were

five, six, no, they were six and seven.

Maybe around eight, six to eight years old.

Right.

Um, cute kids.

I've always loved kids.

Usually I had classes with adults, but this time, this term, they

needed me to teach a class with kids.

And they were like, TIFF, here's the thing.

You're not gonna have a Korean teacher in there with you now, normally

as a foreigner living in Korea.

They would put another Korean teacher when you're working with children, because

sometimes kids, you can't just speak to them in the language they're learning.

You need to also speak to them in their mother language to help them understand.

But I said, don't worry.

I'll go in the classroom.

Now, I didn't speak Korean fluently at this time.

I knew a little bit, certain words.

I knew how to say, Hey, calm down, or pay attention, but I didn't know.

And Korean really well.

I couldn't speak really well.

I couldn't speak in full sentences.

So anyway, I said, don't worry.

Um, I can manage the class, you know, we'll take care of it.

The kids weren't bad.

They were kids.

They weren't bad, but they were very playful.

So this one day, I don't know if I was stressed.

No, I was trying to teach them something and I don't know if the kids had candy

before they came to my class, but they were on another level this day.

I mean, the girls and the boys, everybody was laughing, talking loud, loudly.

They were running around.

I was like, what is happening?

I need them to sit down and be quiet.

So I had asked them to calm down.

They, they weren't listening.

I said, guys, I need you to sit down.

We have a lesson.

So I was getting frustrated.

I was getting flustered, so they were still talking.

I said very loudly.

I said, shut your mouths.

And I said it just like that, and there was immediate silence immediately.

I said, oh, okay.

Then I heard one of the little girls say, Ooh, teacher told us to shut up.

I. No, I didn't.

I said, I did not say shut up.

I said, shut your mouth.

She said, mm, I think you said shut up.

I said, listen, I did not say shut up.

So we teach kids like shut up is not a nice way to tell someone to be quiet.

So I would never tell a kid to shut up.

That's just not me.

I would say, shut your mouth or be quiet.

So I said no.

I said, shut your mouth.

So I had to teach them the difference between Shut your mouth and shut up.

But I can still see.

She was adorable.

I can still see that little girl's face.

Mm, I think you said shut up teacher.

I said I, no, I didn't.

I did not want these kids going home telling their parents.

My English teacher told me to shut up today.

I said, no, no, no, no.

So I had to tell them guys, I did not say that, but I always laugh and I

had to keep my composure when she said that because I didn't wanna laugh and

then make them think it was funny.

I said, no, guys, it's not what happened.

Sometimes kids misunderstand things, and that is a moment I will never forget.

I didn't say shut up.

I said, shut your mouth.

All right.

Maybe you had an experience where kids have misunderstood you.
