and in this video I'm gonna tell you about the  most common English mistake in the universe.

sasabihin ko sa iyo ang tungkol sa pinakakaraniwang pagkakamali sa Ingles sa uniberso.

Now even native speakers make that mistake.

Ngayon kahit na ang mga katutubong nagsasalita ay nagkakamali.

My mother makes that mistake.

Nagkakamali ang nanay ko.

And to be honest, sometimes I do.

At sa totoo lang, minsan ginagawa ko.

Its not so much a speaking mistake. It's a writing mistake.

Ito ay hindi masyadong isang pagkakamali sa pagsasalita. Ito ay isang pagkakamali sa pagsulat.

It's actually to write the possessive  adjective 'your' instead of

Ito ay aktwal na isulat ang possessive adjective na 'your' sa halip na

the contraction 'you're' from 'you are'.

ang contraction na 'you're' mula sa 'you are'.

This is the most common English mistake

Ito ang pinakakaraniwang pagkakamali sa Ingles

But you need to fix it if you want to speak proper English.

Ngunit kailangan mong ayusin ito kung nais mong magsalita ng wastong Ingles.

Okay, so let's take a look at a  few example sentences together.

Okay, kaya tingnan natin ang ilang halimbawa ng mga pangungusap nang magkasama.

"Your daughter is pretty."

"Ang ganda ng anak mo."

So 'your daughter'.

Kaya 'iyong anak na babae'.

This is the possessive adjective of 'you'.

Ito ang possessive adjective ng 'yo'.

Whose daughter?

kaninong anak?

Yours.

Inyo.

Okay?

So the daughter belongs to you.

Sige?

Kaya ang anak na babae ay sa iyo.

That's a possessive adjective.

Possessive adjective yan.

So the sentence is correct.

Kaya tama ang pangungusap.

In the second sentence,

Sa pangalawang pangungusap,

"You're a pretty daughter."

"You're a pretty daughter."

See the difference?

Makita ang pagkakaiba?

Now this is not a possessive adjective.

Ngayon ito ay hindi isang possessive adjective.

This is the verb 'to be'.

Ito ang pandiwa na 'to be'.

But it's the contraction, so it's "You are a pretty daughter."

Ngunit ito ay ang pag-urong, kaya ito ay "You are a pretty daughter."

and the contraction is "You're a pretty daughter."

at ang contraction ay "You're a pretty daughter."

The problem here is that 'you're' - possessive adjectives and

Ang problema dito ay ang 'you're' - possessive adjectives at

'you're' - contraction of the verb 'to be'

'you're' - contraction ng verb 'to be'

have the exact same sound in  many English-speaking regions.

ay may eksaktong parehong tunog sa maraming rehiyong nagsasalita ng Ingles.

Okay it's very similar.

Okay ito ay halos kapareho.

So when we speak, it's the same.

Kaya kapag nagsasalita kami, pareho lang.

People don't hear the difference.

Hindi naririnig ng mga tao ang pagkakaiba.

So the very important thing  is to write it properly.

Kaya ang napakahalagang bagay ay maisulat ito ng maayos.

And there are so many spelling mistakes.

At napakaraming pagkakamali sa spelling.

If we look at the third sentence:

Kung titingnan natin ang ikatlong pangungusap:

"Your a nice person."

"Your a nice person."

What do you think?

Ano sa tingin mo?

Is the sentence right or wrong?

Tama ba o mali ang pangungusap?

Well it's wrong.

Eh mali naman.

"Your a nice person."

"Mabait kang tao."

"You are a nice person."

"Mabait kang tao."

So it's the verb 'to be'.

Kaya ito ang pandiwa na 'to be'.

Okay, so it's not 'your'.

Okay, kaya hindi ito 'iyo'.

This is the possessive adjective

Ito ang possessive na pang-uri

and it should be "you're"- you apostrophe 're'.

at ito ay dapat na "ikaw"- ikaw ay apostrophe 're'.

Okay?

Sige?

I hope you understand the difference between the

Sana maintindihan mo ang pagkakaiba

possessive adjective 'your' and the verb 'to be' contracted so "you're".

ng possessive adjective na 'your' at ang verb na 'to be' contracted so "you're".

Okay so spelling is key here.

Okay kaya spelling ay susi dito.

And when you speak English, people don't hear the difference.

At kapag nagsasalita ka ng Ingles, hindi naririnig ng mga tao ang pagkakaiba.

so it's fine

kaya ayos lang

but it's important to know how to write it and in fact if you look at Facebook

pero mahalagang malaman kung paano ito isulat at kung tutuusin kung titingnan mo ang mga pahina sa Facebook

pages or Twitter accounts, even from native speakers,

o Twitter account, kahit na mula sa mga katutubong nagsasalita,

you will see this mistake.

makikita mo ang pagkakamaling ito.

Don't hesitate to correct native speakers. Okay?

Huwag mag-atubiling itama ang mga katutubong nagsasalita. Sige?

Everybody should stop making that huge mistake.

Dapat tumigil ang lahat sa paggawa ng malaking pagkakamaling iyon.

I hope you now have a better understanding  and you will not make that mistake again.
