Now, an adverb is a word that gives you more information about the verb, tells you how

Now the adverb here is the word "well".

We do not say, "We liked a lot the movie."

Today is an adverb of time, it belongs at the end of the sentence.

That might be used sometimes, but it is preferable to use all of these at the end of the sentence.
