Hi! I guess you're wondering why we're in the British Library.

Because today we're doing a reading lesson!

No, this is the writing one,

it's a writing lesson today

Well, why are we in the library?

Because it's a writing lesson

If we're doing a writing lesson, shouldn't

we have gone to Shakespeare's Globe?

No...

Think of a sentence anything

Why not: "Tom is sexy"

nice!

how about something else?

something negative about Tom

like:

he smells of fish

(It's true!)

How can I connect these sentences?

I could say: "However". Example:

Tom is sexy,

HOWEVER

he smells of fish.

"However" is the same as "But"

and this lesson is about different

conjunction words to replace "But"

and this will help your writing become

a little bit more

sexy

what other words can I use to replace "But"?

I can say

"Although"

Remember to put the comma after the first

sentence

and the pronunciation

is like this

So, now you say it!

Be careful of the "TH" sound!

"Although" can be at the start

or the middle

between the two sentences

so I could say

also, I can say

"Even though"

again start or middle is okay

and at the end of the sentence, I could

say "Though" for example:

in the middle, we can put "However" or "having said that,"

having said that is, is good, it's nice it's like

or "On second thought..."

so all of these conjunction words

basically mean "But"
