I just had a brilliant idea

lots of you've been messaging us saying

It still sounds like

I'm saying bitch

I mean beach

but it's sounds like bitch

What can I do?

so just to remind you

in the last lesson we learned that

/I:/ is a long sound

and /i/ is a short sound

/I:/ as in beach, sheep

leave and

and /i/ as in

bitch - ship

live

and I told you that

a smile mouth

with help you make

the /I:/ sound

Why is that?

well if you want to

make a smile face

you notice that

all the muscles in your mouth

particulary in your tongue

your tongue muscles

they tighten

they contract

and that's what you need to do

to make the /I:/ sound

if the muscles contract,

it lifts the back of

the tongue up

to make that /I:/ sound

but

if your tongue is relaxed

and your jaw

is a little bit slack

you can make the bitch

sound very easily

because everyting is relaxed

including most importantly

your tongue

so practice

smile and make a

/I:/ sound

relax and make the

/i/ sound

light some incense

put on some Indian music

and lets practice that sound together

and breathe

some of you might be

perfect with making

the two sounds

but you still saying

I like good bitches

It still sounds like bitch

bitch - beach - bitch - beach - hi!

/I:/ is a long sound

and /i/ is short sound

and when you say beach

and bitch

you must be careful

not shorten your /I:/ sound

"How am I shortening it!?"

It is all related to how you

finish the sound

how you make ch sound

there are 2 ways for stopping that final ch sound

one with your throat

and the second with your tongue

hitting the top of your

mouth and your front teeth

let me give you an example

If I say bitch

ıt's very obvious

ıt's bitch and not beach

yes, but why?

this is what a lot of you

might be doing

If you stop the sound

with your tongue

hitting the top of your mouth

in your teeth

then you'll always

sound like you saying bitch

bitch

even when the sound is correct

if you stop that way

ıt will always

sound ike bitch

let me show you

beach - beach

now the sound is correct - /I:/

but because I'm stopping the air flow early

ıt makes the /I:/

into a a shorter sound

sounding like /i/

so a longer beach

sounds like a shorter

bitch

this is way you need

practise with me again

you're going to stop the sound

in your throat - each

ıt is very important - notice that

my tongue is not touching anything

ıt's only my throat

stopping the air flow,

therefore stopping the sound

beach - beach -beach

when I stop the sound

in my throat

I can make both sounds

and both words

beach - bitch - bitch - beach

doesn't matter

ı can distinguish between the two

so by stopping it

with your tongue

beach -

that will always sound like bitch

first one make a big smiley face

second one remember it is along sound

/i/ - /i/

not a short sound

so don't stop the sound

with the tounge

stop it in the throat

beach - beach

perfectly now
