How to Use "More Often Than Not"

"More often than not" is another way to  say "usually" or "mostly." It's common  

in conversation and informal writing. Because  it's more of a spoken phrase than a written one,  

there's variation with commas. You can use  this phrase at the beginning, in the middle,  

or at the end of a sentence. More  often than not, Americans use first  

names rather than titles in day-to-day  business exchanges. In customer service,  

they'll address you by your first name more often  than not. They keep it casual and friendly. I  

sometimes stay up late to watch a movie, but  more often than not I go to sleep by 11. He's  

lost more often than not now. I say that to  everyone. More often than not I'm right. But  

life's not black and white. More often than not,  it's gray. Yeah, actually. More often than that.
