No, I'm not trying to flatter you, I was  giving you some examples of superlatives.

‘Superlative’ means ‘of the  highest quality or degree’.

يعني مصطلح "التفوق" "أعلى مستوى من الجودة أو الدرجة".

You cannot go any further than a superlative.

لا يمكنك الذهاب إلى أبعد من صيغة التفضيل.

For example, you can't be taller than the tallest,  

على سبيل المثال ، لا يمكنك أن تكون أطول من الأطول ،

or louder than the loudest  or better than the best.

أو أعلى من الأعلى أو الأفضل من الأفضل.

Here the superlative words our  ‘tallest’, ‘loudest’ and ‘best’.

“You should pick me to be in your show. After  all, I am the best dancer in the world.”

Now, we're going to go through some adjectives  and the superlative form of each adjective.  

الآن ، سنستعرض بعض الصفات والصيغة التفضيلية لكل صفة.

I'll say the adjective first, and I'll give you  a second to guess the superlative form before I

reveal the answer. Now these adjectives are  for describing shape, and size. Let's go!

Big.

The superlative form is ‘biggest’.

Small.

Smallest.

Tall.

Tallest.

Short.

Shortest.

Fat.

Fattest.

أسمن.

Long.

Highest.

الأعلى.

Low.

Not the roundest.

Now before I continue with some more  common superlatives. I want to touch on..

الآن قبل أن أكمل بعض صيغ التفضيل الأكثر شيوعًا. أريد أن أتطرق ..

Oh, ‘touch on’ means to briefly discuss. I  want to touch on “The Rule of THE”. Nouns with  

أوه ، "المس على" يعني أن تناقش بإيجاز. أريد أن أتطرق إلى "حكم ال". عادةً ما تستخدم الأسماء ذات

superlative adjectives usually use ‘the’ because  there is just one of that thing, that noun.

الصفات التفضيلية "the" لأن هناك واحدًا فقط من هذا الشيء ، هذا الاسم.

The thing. Okay?

So, for example.

لذلك ، على سبيل المثال.

“This is the hottest day...”

We wouldn't say “This is hottest day...”

“This is the hottest day of the year so far.”

“I am the luckiest woman alive.”

"أنا أسعد امرأة على قيد الحياة."

“This is the best way to learn.”

“Julia and Benjamin are the most loyal students.”

"جوليا وبنجامين هما أكثر الطلاب ولاءً."

Of course, English isn't straightforward.

بالطبع ، اللغة الإنجليزية ليست مباشرة.

‘Straightforward’ means simple.

كلمة "مباشرة" تعني البساطة.

English isn't straightforward, and  there are exceptions to this rule.

اللغة الإنجليزية ليست مباشرة ، وهناك استثناءات لهذه القاعدة.

Firstly, we don't use ‘the’ if there  is a possessive like ‘my’, ‘her’.

أولاً ، لا نستخدم كلمة "the" إذا كان هناك ملكية مثل "my" أو "هي".

For example.

“Mr. Smith is her favourite teacher.”

"السيد. سميث هي معلمتها المفضلة ".

“This is my eldest brother.”

“This is our most recent article.”

The next exception is when talking  informally, then you can drop ‘the’  

الاستثناء التالي هو عند التحدث بشكل غير رسمي ، يمكنك عندئذٍ حذف "the"

if the superlative is used later in the  sentence and not directly before the noun.

إذا تم استخدام صيغة التفضيل المطلقة لاحقًا في الجملة وليس قبل الاسم مباشرةً.

Here's an example.

هنا مثال.

“Mums gravy (there's the noun)  ... Mum’s gravy is most delicious.

"مرق الأمهات (هناك الاسم) ... مرق أمي لذيذ للغاية.

So, you could say “Mum’s gravy is the  most delicious.” or drop it informally.

لذلك ، يمكنك أن تقول "مرق أمي هو ألذ مرق." أو قم بإسقاطها بشكل غير رسمي.

“Mom's gravy is most delicious.”

"مرق أمي لذيذ للغاية."

“This house (now is your noun)  ... This house is the biggest.”

"هذا المنزل (الآن هو اسمك) ... هذا المنزل هو الأكبر."

Could be, “This house is biggest.”

يمكن أن يكون ، "هذا المنزل هو الأكبر."

For sure this house is biggest.

بالتأكيد هذا المنزل هو الأكبر.

“Which song is longest?”

"ما هي الأغنية الأطول؟"

“Which song is the longest”  or “Which song is longest?”

"ما هي الأغنية الأطول" أو "ما هي الأغنية الأطول؟"

Okay, let's go through some other commonly used  

حسنًا ، دعنا نستعرض بعض

superlatives that you should  have in your vocabulary bank.

صيغ التفضيل الشائعة الأخرى التي يجب أن تكون لديك في بنك المفردات الخاص بك.

To describe the quality of  something you can use ‘fine’.

لوصف جودة شيء ما يمكنك استخدامه "بخير".

And what's the superlative of ‘fine’?

وما هي صيغة التفضيل "غرامة"؟

Finest.

“Oh, the pillowcase was  made from the finest silk.”

How about ‘fun’?

ماذا عن "المرح"؟

‘The most fun’.

“She is the most fun of anyone I know.”

‘Funny’.

‘Funniest’.

"أطرف".

“This is the funniest show in 20 years.”

‘Sweet’.

“He really is the sweetest boy.”

‘Rich’.

“Rishi Sunak is the richest  politician to take the top job.”

‘Expensive’.

‘The most expensive’.

'الأغلى'.

“Of all my books, this one  was the most expensive.”

"من بين جميع كتبي ، كان هذا الكتاب الأغلى."

‘Cheap’.

'رخيص'.

‘Cheapest’.

'أرخص'.

“Don't buy the cheapest car  it may not be reliable.”

"لا تشتري أرخص سيارة قد لا تكون موثوقة."

‘Simple’.

'بسيط'.

‘Simplest’.

"أبسط".

“We prefer using the simplest recipe.”

"نحن نفضل استخدام أبسط وصفة."

‘Cold’.

'البرد'.

‘Coldest’.

"أبرد".

“It's the coldest night of the year.”

"إنها أبرد ليلة في السنة."

‘Warm’.

'دافيء'.

‘Warmest’.

"أحر".

“This hot water bottle is the warmest.”

"زجاجة الماء الساخن هذه هي الأكثر دفئًا."

‘Hot’.

'حار'.

‘Hottest’.

"سخونة".

“My tea is hottest.”

"الشاي الخاص بي هو الأكثر سخونة."

“My tea is THE hottest,” but I’m being informal.

"الشاي الخاص بي هو الأكثر سخونة" ، لكني غير رسمية.

“My tea is hottest.”

"الشاي الخاص بي هو الأكثر سخونة."

‘Lovely’.

'محبوب'.

‘Loveliest’.

"أجمل".

“You are the loveliest student in my class.”

Okay, let's whip through some superlatives for

describing appearance. Now there  are six adjectives coming up.

لوصف المظهر. الآن هناك ست صفات قادمة.

Can you correctly identify all  six superlatives? Here goes:

Okay, let's have one final  go. Tell me the superlative

Nice and easy, right? Or should I say,  that was the easiest of all the lists.

لطيف وسهل ، أليس كذلك؟ أو يجب أن أقول ، كان هذا أسهل القوائم.

Now before I go, here are four of the most  

الآن قبل أن أذهب ، إليك أربعة من

common irregular forms we have  ‘good’ instead is ‘the best’.

الأشكال غير المنتظمة الأكثر شيوعًا لدينا "جيد" بدلاً من "الأفضل".

So, something is ‘the most  good’ then it's the best.

لذا ، فإن الشيء هو "أفضل شيء" ثم هو الأفضل.

“I am the best mother in the world.”

"أنا أفضل أم في العالم."

According to my children.

Then we have ‘bad’. ‘The most  bad’ would be ‘the worst’.

“My partner is the worst  driver I have ever known.”

Then we have ‘little’. It would be ‘the least’.

“She spent the least amount of  time working on this project.”

"لقد أمضت أقل قدر من الوقت في العمل في هذا المشروع."

And finally, ‘far’ would be ‘furthest’.

وأخيرًا ، "البعيد" سيكون "الأبعد".

“I have to travel the furthest.  I came here from Egypt.”

"لا بد لي من السفر إلى أبعد الحدود. جئت إلى هنا من مصر ".

And let me end with how we sometimes end a  sentence containing a superlative. And these words  

واسمحوا لي أن أنهي حديثنا عن كيفية إنهاء جملة تحتوي على صيغة التفضيل. وهذه الكلمات

give the superlative more weight more emphasis,  because they can't be any more. They are the top.

تعطي وزنًا أكبر للتفضيل ، لأنها لا يمكن أن تكون أكثر من ذلك. هم القمة.

But if you want to emphasize it,  then informally, you can use ‘ever’.

ولكن إذا كنت تريد التأكيد عليه ، فبإمكانك استخدام كلمة "أبدًا" بشكل غير رسمي.

“This is the best day ever.”

"هذا افضل يوم على الاطلاق."

You could also use ‘in the world’.

يمكنك أيضًا استخدام "in the world".

“You are the most helpful person in the world.”

"أنت أكثر شخص مفيد في العالم."

Or if you really want to add a lot of emphasis,  

أو إذا كنت تريد حقًا إضافة الكثير من التركيز ،

you can combine the two and  say, ‘in the world ever’.

فيمكنك الجمع بين الاثنين والقول ، "في العالم أبدًا".

“You have made me the happiest  girl in the world ever.”

"لقد جعلتني أسعد فتاة في العالم على الإطلاق."
