No, I'm not trying to flatter you, I was  giving you some examples of superlatives.

‘Superlative’ means ‘of the  highest quality or degree’.

'최상의'는 ' 최고의 품질 또는 정도'를 의미합니다.

You cannot go any further than a superlative.

For example, you can't be taller than the tallest,  

예를 들어 키가 가장 큰 사람보다 크

or louder than the loudest  or better than the best.

Here the superlative words our  ‘tallest’, ‘loudest’ and ‘best’.

“You should pick me to be in your show. After  all, I am the best dancer in the world.”

Now, we're going to go through some adjectives  and the superlative form of each adjective.  

이제 몇 가지 형용사 와 각 형용사의 최상급 형태를 살펴보겠습니다.

I'll say the adjective first, and I'll give you  a second to guess the superlative form before I

The superlative form is ‘biggest’.

Small.

Smallest.

Tall.

Short.

Shortest.

Fat.

지방.

Fattest.

가장 뚱뚱하다.

Long.

가장 긴.

High.

높은.

Highest.

Now before I continue with some more  common superlatives. I want to touch on..

이제 좀 더 일반적인 최상급 표현을 계속하기 전에. 만지고 싶어..

Oh, ‘touch on’ means to briefly discuss. I  want to touch on “The Rule of THE”. Nouns with  

아, '만지다'는 간단히 이야기하다라는 뜻이야. 'The Rule of THE'를 다루고 싶습니다.

superlative adjectives usually use ‘the’ because  there is just one of that thing, that noun.

최상급 형용사가 있는 명사는 일반적으로 'the'를 사용합니다. 그 명사 중 하나만 있기 때문입니다.

The thing. Okay?

일. 좋아요?

So, for example.

예를 들어.

“This is the hottest day...”

"오늘이 가장 더운 날입니다..."

We wouldn't say “This is hottest day...”

우리는 "오늘이 가장 더운 날입니다..."라고 말하지 않을 것입니다.

“This is the hottest day of the year so far.”

"오늘은 지금까지 가장 더운 날입니다."

“I am the luckiest woman alive.”

"나는 세상에서 가장 운이 좋은 여자다."

“This is the best way to learn.”

"이것이 가장 좋은 학습 방법입니다."

“Julia and Benjamin are the most loyal students.”

"Julia와 Benjamin은 가장 충성스러운 학생입니다."

Of course, English isn't straightforward.

물론 영어가 만만치는 않습니다.

‘Straightforward’ means simple.

'Straight'는 단순함을 의미합니다.

English isn't straightforward, and  there are exceptions to this rule.

영어는 간단하지 않으며 이 규칙에는 예외가 있습니다.

Firstly, we don't use ‘the’ if there  is a possessive like ‘my’, ‘her’.

첫째, 'my', 'her'와 같은 소유격이 있는 경우 'the'를 사용하지 않습니다.

For example.

예를 들어.

“Mr. Smith is her favourite teacher.”

"씨. Smith는 그녀가 가장 좋아하는 선생님입니다.”

“This is my eldest brother.”

“저희 큰형님입니다.”

“This is our most recent article.”

"이것은 우리의 가장 최근 기사입니다."

The next exception is when talking  informally, then you can drop ‘the’  

다음 예외는 비공식적으로 이야기할 때 최상급이 명사 바로 앞이 아니라 문장의 뒷부분에 사용되는 경우 'the'를 생략할 수 있습니다

if the superlative is used later in the  sentence and not directly before the noun.

Here's an example.

여기에 예가 있습니다.

“Mums gravy (there's the noun)  ... Mum’s gravy is most delicious.

“Mums gravy (명사가 있습니다) ... Mums gravy가 가장 맛있습니다.

So, you could say “Mum’s gravy is the  most delicious.” or drop it informally.

그래서 "엄마의 육즙이 제일 맛있어"라고 말할 수 있습니다. 또는 비공식적으로 삭제합니다.

“Mom's gravy is most delicious.”

“엄마의 육즙이 제일 맛있어.”

“This house (now is your noun)  ... This house is the biggest.”

“이 집(지금은 네 명사) ... 이 집이 제일 크다.”

Could be, “This house is biggest.”

"이 집이 가장 큽니다."

For sure this house is biggest.

확실히 이 집이 가장 크다.

“Which song is longest?”

"가장 긴 노래는?"

“Which song is the longest”  or “Which song is longest?”

"어떤 노래가 가장 긴가요?" 또는 "어떤 노래가 가장 긴가요?"

Okay, let's go through some other commonly used

To describe the quality of  something you can use ‘fine’.

And what's the superlative of ‘fine’?

“Oh, the pillowcase was  made from the finest silk.”

“아, 베갯잇은 최고급 실크로 만들었어요.”

How about ‘fun’?

'재미'는 어떻습니까?

‘The most fun’.

'제일 재밌다'.

“She is the most fun of anyone I know.”

"그녀는 내가 아는 사람 중 가장 재미있습니다."

‘Funny’.

‘Funniest’.

'제일 웃기다'.

“This is the funniest show in 20 years.”

‘Sweet’.

“Don't buy the cheapest car  it may not be reliable.”

‘Simple’.

“We prefer using the simplest recipe.”

“It's the coldest night of the year.”

Now before I go, here are four of the most

common irregular forms we have  ‘good’ instead is ‘the best’.

'좋음' 대신 '최고'가 사용되는 가장 일반적인 불규칙 형식 4가지가 있습니다.

So, something is ‘the most  good’ then it's the best.

그래서 어떤 것은 '가장 좋은 것' 그 다음이 가장 좋은 것입니다.

“I am the best mother in the world.”

"나는 세상에서 가장 좋은 엄마야."

According to my children.

내 아이들에 따르면.

Then we have ‘bad’. ‘The most  bad’ would be ‘the worst’.

그 다음은 '나쁨'입니다. '가장 나쁜'은 '최악'이 됩니다.

“My partner is the worst  driver I have ever known.”

“내 파트너는 내가 아는 최악의 드라이버입니다.”

Then we have ‘little’. It would be ‘the least’.

그러면 '조금'이 생깁니다. '최소'일 것입니다.

“She spent the least amount of  time working on this project.”

"그녀는 이 프로젝트에 가장 적은 시간을 할애했습니다."

And finally, ‘far’ would be ‘furthest’.

그리고 마지막으로 '멀리'는 '가장 멀리'가 됩니다.

“I have to travel the furthest.  I came here from Egypt.”

“가장 멀리 가야 해요. 나는 이집트에서 여기로 왔습니다.”

And let me end with how we sometimes end a  sentence containing a superlative. And these words  

그리고 최상급이 포함된 문장을 끝내는 방법으로 끝내겠습니다 . 그리고 이 단어들은

give the superlative more weight more emphasis,  because they can't be any more. They are the top.

더 이상 그럴 수 없기 때문에 최상급에 더 많은 무게를 더 강조합니다. 그들은 최고입니다.

But if you want to emphasize it,  then informally, you can use ‘ever’.

하지만 강조하고 싶다면 비공식적으로 'ever'를 사용할 수 있습니다.

“This is the best day ever.”

"오늘은 최고의 날입니다."

You could also use ‘in the world’.

'세상에서'를 사용할 수도 있습니다.

“You are the most helpful person in the world.”

"당신은 세상에서 가장 도움이 되는 사람입니다."

Or if you really want to add a lot of emphasis,  

또는 정말로 많은 강조를 추가하고 싶다면

you can combine the two and  say, ‘in the world ever’.

두 가지를 결합하여 '세상에서 영원히'라고 말할 수 있습니다.

“You have made me the happiest  girl in the world ever.”
