The first step is 1) Make English a part of your life 

첫 번째 단계는 1) 영어를 삶의 일부로 만드는 것입니다

Learning a language can be hard, demanding and  time consuming . But you can learn English doing  

언어를 배우는 것은 어렵고 힘들며 시간이 많이 소요될 수 있습니다. 하지만 매일 해야 하는 일을 하면서 영어를 배울 수 있습니다

the things you have to do every day. I’m not  talking about learning difficult grammar rules or  

. 어려운 문법 규칙을 배우거나

memorizing words, I mean simple actions that help  your brain consume English- and get used to it. 

단어를 암기하는 것이 아니라 두뇌가 영어를 소비하고 익숙해지는 데 도움이 되는 간단한 행동을 의미합니다.

You can switch the language on your smartphone  to English. You can listen to English podcasts  

스마트폰의 언어를 영어로 전환할 수 있습니다 .

and radio stations while cleaning the  house, driving or walking in the park 

집을 청소하거나 운전하거나 공원을 산책하면서 영어 팟캐스트와 라디오를 들을 수 있습니다.

You can watch English TV shows. You can stick  English labels on things around your house. 

영어 TV 프로그램을 시청할 수 있습니다. 집에 있는 물건에 영어 라벨을 붙일 수 있습니다.

You can read English books.  You can write notes in English. 

영어책을 읽을 수 있습니다. 영어로 메모를 작성할 수 있습니다.

These simple actions are extremely helpful  

이러한 간단한 조치는

because you make the language learning a part of  your lifestyle and the results would be amazing! 

언어 학습을 라이프스타일의 일부로 만들고 그 결과가 놀라울 것이기 때문에 매우 유용합니다!

The next step is 2) Focus on  

다음 단계는 2) 문법

learning vocabulary rather than grammar Grammar is important but you should NOT

focus on learning grammar rules. If a person  speaks with some grammar mistakes, --you will  

문법 규칙 학습에 집중해서는 안 됩니다. 어떤 사람이 말을 할 때 문법이 틀리면 --

easily understand them, right? And if a person  knows a bunch of grammar rules, --but vocabulary  

쉽게 이해할 수 있겠죠? 그리고 어떤 사람이 많은 문법 규칙을 알고 있지만 --그러나 어휘가

is not enough,-- they can’t speak at all!!! Vocabulary is much more important because--  

충분하지 않다면, 그들은 전혀 말을 할 수 없습니다!!! 단어와 구가 의미하는 바를 이해해야 하기 때문에 어휘가 훨씬 더 중요합니다

you need to make sense -of how words and phrases  mean what they mean. First of all, you can use a

lot of apps for memorizing vocabulary, Anki and  Memrise are my favourites. When you’re watching

videos where natives’re speaking English --while  you see them doing something ---or talking about  

원어민이 영어로 말하는 동영상을 시청할 때 -- 그들이 무엇인가를 하거나 ---또는 무엇에 대해 이야기하는 것을 보면서

something ---and you hear the words you don’t  know, --you can look it up in the dictionary  

---모르는 단어를 들으면 --다음에서 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 사전

but… I recommend not using the dictionary every  time you don’t get the word, --you can try to  

하지만... 단어를 이해하지 못할 때마다 사전을 사용하지 않는 것이 좋습니다 . --당신은

understand it from the context, and it helps your  brain connect the objects with the English words. 

문맥에서 이해하려고 노력할 수 있고, 그것은 당신의 뇌가 물체를 영어 단어와 연결하는 데 도움이 됩니다.

Writing down new vocabulary is essential, but… do  NOT write the translation in your native language,  

새로운 어휘를 적어 두는 것은 필수적이지만... 모국어로 번역하지 말고,

write the definition in English. It helps you to  enrich your vocabulary and better memorize it. 

정의를 영어로 쓰세요 어휘를 풍부하게 하고 더 잘 암기하는 데 도움이 됩니다.

Listen to people speaking English and you  can notice different grammar patterns.  

영어로 말하는 사람들의 말을 들으면 다양한 문법 패턴을 발견할 수 있습니다.

Try not to analyze what you hear. Just let  your brain absorb it. Sometimes when we hear

the same pattern a hundred times, we start  automatically use it in the conversation.

For example, the construction I’ve never  been. It’s the present perfect tense. Students

---especially Russians--- often make that mistake  ---I never was…But if you hear this pattern of

speech many times, you will memorize it and  you repeat IT BY YOURSELF, and you create a

speaking habit, so you don’t need to remember  the RULE to be able to use it when you speak.

말하는 습관을 만듭니다. 말할 때 사용하기 위해 RULE을 기억할 필요가 없습니다.

The next step is the one that I absolutely love 3) Quality is over quantity 

다음 단계는 내가 절대적으로 좋아하는 단계입니다. 3) 양보다 질이 중요합니다

Students always think -that they need to learn 50  words a day. The biggest mistake is-- memorizing a

lot of words without using them. When we learn new  words, we put them in our memory, and it helps us

to recognize these words and understand them while  reading. But when it comes to the conversation

--we can hardly remember them, right? So,  the amount of memorized words doesn’t WORK

It’s better to focus on quality-- and find  just 10 words a day --and try to use them  

품질에 집중하고 하루에 단 10개의 단어를 찾아

in different situations as much as you can.  Use these words while writing or speaking. 

최대한 다양한 상황에서 사용하려고 노력하는 것이 좋습니다. 글을 쓰거나 말할 때 이 단어들을 사용하세요.

When you write down a word, never write it  down by itself. I recommend you writing a  

단어를 적을 때 절대 그 자체로 적지 마세요.

full sentence with a new word and  writing a question using this word. 

새 단어로 전체 문장을 작성하고 이 단어를 사용하여 질문을 작성하는 것이 좋습니다.

Also, I recommend using associated words,  for example, when you learn a new word,  

또한 관련 단어를 사용하는 것이 좋습니다. 예를 들어 새로운 단어를 배울 때

add more related words, so that  you can easily remember them. 

관련 단어를 추가하면 쉽게 기억할 수 있습니다.

As for me, I look up the words I didn’t know,  and look online for sentences or phrases---  

저는 모르는 단어를 찾아보고, 온라인에서 문장이나 구문을 검색하여 --- 더

to give myself a deeper meaning and context. The next step is crucial because it gives you the

opportunity to study different ways of speaking 4) Listen to different speakers

Different accents, different voices  and different speaking styles. You

can find a lot of accents here on Youtube. American, British, amazing Australian accent,

Indian accent and others When your brain will get used

to understanding different pronunciation styles,  you can talk to people from all over the world. 

다양한 발음 스타일을 이해하는 데 뇌가 익숙해지면 전 세계 사람들과 대화할 수 있습니다.

The next step to reach a good level of English IS 5) Change your learning style 

좋은 수준의 영어에 도달하기 위한 다음 단계는 5) 학습 스타일을 바꾸십시오.

If you’re learning a lot of things, watching,  listening, reading, but you’re not able to use it,  

보고, 듣고, 읽고 많은 것을 배우고 있지만 그것을 사용할 수 없다면,

-it’s frustrating. That means -you  need to change your learning style

Every student has a dominant learning style.  This can be reading English books and textbooks,

memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary,  listening to English audio lessons or

Let’s say you enjoy watching English  movies the most, so it’s time to change

Once again, all of these styles are extremely  helpful but it’s better to mix them and use

If you want to achieve real results, you  need to dedicate yourself completely to

learning a language. I’m often asked how  to become fluent in English in a month

--or even in a week. --It’s impossible. It doesn’t  happen that way. You have to practice consistently

and that’s the ONLY way you achieve it. And it’s not about the amount of actions,

it’s about small daily actions, but  you have to practice them consistently.

If you told me to memorize 1000 phrasal  verbs at once, I'd be like, "Oh my god,  

한 번에 1000개의 구동사를 외우라고 하면 "맙소사, 그건

I can't do that. That's impossible." But if  you told me to learn 10 verbs a day, every day,  

못하겠어. 불가능해." 하지만 당신이 나에게 하루에 10개의 동사를 매일 배우라고 한다면,

I could do that - it's feasible. And eventually,  you will have memorized 1000 phrasal verbs.

Consistency is gonna build fluency over time.

The next step is 7) Don't try to be perfect

Don't try to be a perfectionist. When  you’re speaking English to someone,

and your brain is constantly searching  for the right words, and you feel tensed,

If you make a mistake -you have to be able to GROW  from it. We all humans and we all make mistakes.

Don’t be afraid of them. Mistakes can help us  at some point. Keep learning and keep speaking

One thing -that I always remind  myself about when I’m talking

important. What’s really important, is  to deliver your message to your partner,

communicate and exchange opinions. As I’ve already said, reading, writing,

listening is important but the most effective  way to improve your English is speaking

so the next tip is 7) Speak

When I was a beginner, I managed to find a  great friend, from the United States, and she
