than just kind of understanding them to a small or  a low degree so a student heard a word like gritty

situation where you heard this word uh and they  were explaining they heard it in a movie and so

this often happens you hear some vocabulary in  a movie or TV show or something uh and oh that's

maybe a new word for some people or you don't  quite understand a particular usage of the word

uh so before I I teach this or explain what it  means help you understand it like a native U often

the tricky thing with vocabulary is that even if  you know a word or you've heard a word like this

before um there are kind of levels of vocabulary  and vocabulary use so what do I mean by this uh I

mean like we're I'm going to put this kind of at  like level level one level two uh level three and

say I'm talking about um I don't know something  something physical like sharp so I have a knife

uh and I I learn a word like sharp and this is  just the opposite of something like dull so we  

hear a word you know like a young child would  see an example like this they get to see a nice

uh here's a knife right here and look at that  that little Point here oh that point is sharp

so this is a sharp knife and in contrast we might  show a child uh here's like kind of a child's dull

maybe play knife like this it's rounded so this  is a sharp knife up here and this is a Dull Knife

over here so the dull knife maybe it's just not  very sharp or we would actually have something

two use over here and the same thing with sharp  eyes like if I'm good at seeing things you can

begin with just the basic thing like grit grit now  grit when we're talking about grit if you don't

gritty gritty they actually say the T sound  but American English we say gritty gritty all  

실제로는 T 소리라고 하지만 미국 영어에서는 gritty gritty라고 합니다.

right so it sounds more like a t but this word  here this is greedy greedy so this is the short
