Now it's worth mentioning, before we start,

that even if you perfect all eight of these tips

but you're still using American English words,

You firstly need to stop using words such as;

So the first tip I have for you,

I'm gonna to call the 'T's and the glottal T's'.

'T'와 성문 T'라고 부르겠습니다.

Now on a basic level,

you shouldn't be pronouncing your T's

like you're imitating someone spitting on someone.

Now in order to pronounce proper T's,

이제 적절한 T를 발음하려면

you need to place that end of your tongue

혀 끝을

on the roof of your mouth,  just behind your front teeth,

입천장, 즉 앞니 바로 뒤에 대고

and apply pressure and release...

Now the glottal T is a very informal way

이제 성문 T는

which us Brits like to pronounce our t's.

An example of a glottal a T would be;

성문 a T의 예는 다음과 같습니다.

city or pretty or Putney.

도시 또는 예쁜 또는 Putney.

Now to perform a glottal T,

이제 glottal T를 수행하려면

you have to go along the lines

of preparing yourself to do a tiny cough.

You must first, trap air  in the back of your throat

and then when you release,

you say the final letters of  the word you're pronouncing.

And now a good way to practise this,

is to say the letter E. And then, try to stop it,

suddenly, without closing your mouth.

that's a glottal T.

Now once you perfect glottal T,

you yourself will feel like you're a super-Brit,

able to pronounce such British  words and sentences such as;

Oi! I'm British mate, now  pass me a bottle of water.

어이! 저는 영국 친구입니다. 이제 물 한 병을 건네주세요.

Next up for you, I have the 'Schwa  sound' symbolised with this.

다음으로 이것으로 상징되는 '슈와음'이 있습니다.

Now, in order to practise the schwa sound,

이제 슈와 소리를 연습하려면

you have to make a noise a bit like a zombie;

좀비 같은 소리를 내야 합니다.

/ə/

/ə/

Yeah? Got it?

Now you give it a go.

That's right!

Now the schwa noise features in  many words, such as; /Ləndən/.

이제 슈와 잡음은 다음과 같은 많은 단어로 표현됩니다. /Ləndən/.

Where non-native speakers might say; /Lon-don/,

원어민이 아닌 사람들이 말할 수 있는 곳; /Lon-don/에서

the O is replaced with the schwa sound.

O는 슈와 소리로 대체됩니다.

So instead we have London.

대신 런던이 있습니다.

However, there is a good rule;

그러나 좋은 규칙이 있습니다.

the schwa sound can be put in place of any word

schwa 소리는

that finishes with 'er', or 'or'.

'er' 또는 'or'로 끝나는 모든 단어 대신 사용할 수 있습니다.

For example;

예를 들어;

teacher.

선생님.

Author.

작가.

Footballer.

축구 선수.

Carpenter.

목수.

Doctor.

의사.

Butcher.

푸줏간.

Actor.

배우.

Okay my next tip I've called 'The /o/ sound'.

다음 팁은 '/o/ 소리'라고 했습니다.

Now you probably heard this  in the glottal T example

이제

I gave to you earlier.

여러분은 이전에 제공한 성문 T 예에서 이것을 들었을 것입니다.

Brits like to pronounce the letters  'A' and 'O' as /o/ in certain words,

영국인들은 'A'와 'O'를 특정 단어에서 /o/로 발음하는 것을 좋아합니다

such as; water or whatever.

Now, this is in contrast to American English,

이제 이것은

where Americans like to  pronounce it with an /a/ sound,

Now luckily for you, this  pronunciation is very easy

as we pronounce the /o/ sound by  making an 'O' shape with our mouth.

Now back to the episode.

Next up, a topic I like to call  'The non-rhotic /r/ sound'.

Now in its simplicity, a non-rhotic 'R',

is essentially the /r/ noise that's not rolled,

which is very typical in English.

This is why you'll often see British people

struggling to learn Italian or Spanish,

Now a good way to practise this,

Now there is, as there always  is, an exception to this.

If you go to Scotland,  you'll hear complete opposite

to the non-rhotic 'R'.

It appears there’s been a murder.

Aye, I don't know. But the murderer  was driving a purple Ferrari

Now the next segment I like  to call 'The ed word endings'.

이제 다음 부분은 제가 'The ed word endings'라고 부르는 것을 좋아합니다.

Now this isn't specific to British English,

this also works for American English,

where most words finishing with  'ed' aren't pronounced /ed/.

For example, you wouldn't say excited,

chopped or used.

다졌다, 사용했다고 말하지 않습니다.

You'd say; excited, chopped, used.

Now the pronunciations can be separated

into three different categories;

Some examples of 'id' would  be; excited, waited, lifted.

Examples of 't' would be; chopped.  tripped, laughed... or laughed.

Now the next topic I like to  call 'The /w/ and /wh/ sounds.

이제 제가 좋아하는 다음 주제는 '/w/ 및 /wh/ 소리입니다.

Now as you just saw and heard,  these two are spelt differently

방금 보고 들으신 것처럼 이 두 단어는 철자가 다르지만

but are pronounced the same.

발음은 같습니다. 1900년대 영국을 배경으로 한 Netflix의 오래된 영화를 보았기 때문에

Now you might be caught out  by this pronunciation error,

이 발음 오류에 사로잡힐 수 있습니다

because maybe, you've watched  an old movie on Netflix

set in 1900s Britain, where people  would be saying which or where.

.

This pronunciation is very outdated.

이 발음은 매우 구식입니다.

Nowadays, which is the same as witch

요즈음은 마녀와 같고

and where is the same as wear.

어디는 웨어와 같다.

Other examples of this are;

이에 대한 다른 예는 다음과 같습니다.

wine and whine.

와인과 우는 소리.

Weather and whether.

날씨와 여부.

And Wales and whales.

그리고 웨일즈와 고래.

And finally, my last tip to  sound like a native speaker

그리고 마지막으로 원어민처럼 들리는 마지막 팁은

I like to call 'Don't ring the ing'.

'Don't ring the ing'이라고 부르는 것을 좋아합니다.

Now you'll find that most Southerners

이제 대부분의 남부인은 비공식적으로 말할 때

will not even pronounce the 'G'  when they're speaking informally.

'G'조차 발음하지 않는다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다 .

For example; thinking.

예를 들어; 생각.

However, if you want to speak  ''proper'' British English,

그러나 ''적절한'' 영국식 영어로 말하고 싶다면

then the 'G' has to be present,  but just 'don't ring the ing'.

'G'가 있어야 하지만 'don't ring the ing'만 하면 됩니다.

Now it's quite common for non-natives

이제는 비원어민이 다음 단어에 대해

to over enunciate thet 'ing'  sound to the following words;

'ing' 소리를 과도하게 발음하는 것이 일반적입니다.

listening, speaking, reading, thinking.

듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 생각하기.

It's fine just to cut the 'g' short.

'g'를 짧게 잘라도 괜찮습니다.

For example;

예를 들어;

Listening.

청취.

Thinking.

생각.

Reading.

독서.

Speaking.

말하기.

So there you go,

자, 여기 영국인처럼 들리는 데
