Your English Coach: How to show your expertise in a pitch.

you'll learn how to finish your elevator pitch or your introduction that we

started working on in parts one and two of this series,

and we'll show you how you can share your experience that you

bring and ask what you want so that you get it,

whether it's maybe a new job, a promotion in your company,

a new client for your business, whatever. You ready? Let's go.

so in the last two videos,

we saw that you need an elevator pitch or an introduction because it

shows your competencies, your strengths, your skills,

and also because you can use it in very

many different business situations,

which makes it a very valuable tool to have in your business

English toolkit. And of course,

this is something that we native speakers do also because we know that

it's going to help us to have more successful business conversations

in many different situations. Now, if you watched those other videos,

you know that you can start your elevator pitch with a simple introduction like

this, Hi, I'm Christina. It's so nice to meet you.

And then you say what? You do something like,

I'm a human resources manager specializing in recruiting diverse teams for

IT companies. Okay?

So once you have that first part of your introduction,

you're ready to talk about the value that you can bring to other people.

Now, you can talk about your experience,

how many years you have been in business,

maybe a recent achievement an important innovation,

whatever really puts the spotlight on you.

For a lot of people,

it can feel quite scary or just uncomfortable, really,

really pointing out the skills, the competencies,

the achievements that you've done.

It's not something that comes natural to a lot of people,

and that's why it's even more important to actually take the time to

prepare it in advance.

And you wanna pick something that really shows the type

of expertise, like what you can do for your,

I would say your target audience. Maybe this is the person listening to you,

your potential clients a company that you want to work for,

the department that you want to get a promotion to,

et cetera. For example,

if you work for a company or as a consultant for several

companies, you might say something like this,

I've been a human resources manager for over seven years,

and I've recruited entire teams for small and growing companies.

And if you run your own small business that provides services to

other businesses, you might talk about a recent project that you worked on.

Our company specializes in helping businesses with their public relations.

We just finished helping Ecor create a community outreach program and

a PR campaign to promote it.

And maybe you have a great idea that will help the company or the department

that you're already working for,

and you wanna show that you've got the expertise,

you've got what it takes to really carry out your big idea.

My team and I have been working on new and innovative medical equipment that is

small enough to move from lab to lab,

and we've just completed our latest design for our biggest client. So you

see the idea is really to pick just one thing that is,

I would say, exemplary of your expertise,

your skills or the type of accomplishments that you can achieve for

your clients, your employer, or whoever you're speaking to.

And now it's time to ask for what you want.

Now of course, this is always going to be different depending on your situation,

but here are some ideas. If you're looking for a position in a company,

you might say,

I find the work amazing Core does to be inspiring,

and I'd love the chance to put my experience to work for your company.

Or if you're at a networking event and you would love to be connected to someone

who can help you to find the position you're looking for, you might say,

I'm really inspired with the work. Amazing core.

Would you be able to put me in touch with someone on the Human resources team?

And if you're a small business owner or a consultant offering your service to

another business, you can say, I'm really inspired with the work.

Amazing Core does.

My team and I would love to help you create the kind of public relations

campaign that will allow your business to grow. Or maybe you're,

you're ready to actually suggest an idea that maybe you and your team

can carry out to help the company where you already work. In this case,

you can say something like this,

I suggest creating a new design for our latest model that would help our clients.

Diagnose illnesses in more remote areas.

And I feel our department has the skills to do that. All right,

so first of all,

good job and congratulations because now you know how to share your value,

your expertise, your experience,

and to ask what you want at the end of your pitch.

But actually, that's not yet the end of your pitch.

There's still one more thing that you need to do to double your chances

that your pitch will actually be a success.
