My Favorite Resources For Reading in English

Reading in English is great for boosting your vocabulary.

It’s fun, you can do it anywhere,

and you can learn both language and culture at the same time.

If you’ve tried reading magazines like Time and Newsweek, but

found them difficult,

you’ll love what I have for you today.

Today, you’ll discover

3 resources that I personally recommend for reading in English.

You ready?

Today, we’ll look at books and magazines,

not online publications. Because You probably spend a lot of time in front of a computer for your work already.

So go find a cozy chair,

grab a cup of coffee, and let’s curl up with a good book.

My first suggestion is the magazine

“Go English”.

It’s for intermediate to advanced levels of English

and it includes articles that are specifically written for each level.

And that’s what makes Go English really fantastic for people learning English,

people just like you.

In "Go Englsih" you’ll find articles about

different English-speaking countries,

different cultures.

and there are news reports,

biographies, articles about travel destinations,

language quizzes, and lots of really interesting subjects.

Plus, the difficult words are translated into French at the bottom of each page.

So It’s really useful for learning new vocabulary.

And with a subscription, you can also get a CD

and access to interactive exercises that are based on the articles.

Otherwise, you can buy just the magazine at train stations and book shops around France.

If your English is a lower level, between beginner and intermediate,

you’ll like English Now.

The format and style are just like Go English, but the articles are written in easier English.

Personally, I think these are the best magazines in France for learning English. Seriously.

The other resource today is graded readers.

Graded readers are just like “normal” books,

but they’re written for a specific level of English.

You can find graded readers for

beginners.

elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate,

upper intermediate, advanced so really, whatever your level, you CAN read in English!

If you like reading fiction, you’ll probably like the adapted versions of English-language classics,

like The Great Gatsby

or 1984, which is one of my favorite books.

Or you might like also the graded reader adaptations of popular movies like Notting Hill

or Billy Elliot.

And If non-fiction is more your thing

then there are also graded readers on different countries, sports, and people who made history,

and even on professional subjects like

business communication.

Finally, I have to give a special mention to a series called

“Amazing People” by the publisher Collins.

Each book in this series has a theme:

amazing leaders,

amazing entrepreneurs and business people, amazing scientists, amazing women, etc.

And even though these books are written for people specifically learning English,

Sometimes i read them because they’re just interesting and inspiring !

And also I would never recommend something to you that I haven’t tested myself!
