Learn the English Phrases CRYSTAL CLEAR and STEER CLEAR / STAY CLEAR

So in this English lesson,

I wanted to help you learn the English phrase,

crystal clear.

When you say something is crystal clear in English,

it means that it is something that you understood completely

or that you understand completely.

If someone says to you,

"the way to get to the store is to drive down this street,

turn left at the first intersection,

and then turn right at the first stop sign."

And if they said, "do you understand?"

You could say yes, I understand, it's crystal clear.

So crystal is something they make fine dinnerware out of.

You can have a crystal glass.

And crystal is very, very clear.

So in English, if we understand something completely,

we say that it is crystal clear.

Maybe when you are done watching this English lesson,

you will think to yourself,

Bob did a really good job of explaining

that, his lesson was crystal clear.

I totally understood everything that he said.

At least I hope you do.

I hope that I'm always crystal clear

when I explain things to you

in these little English lessons,

I have a couple more phrases here with the word clear in it.

I have stay clear and steer clear,

and these mean the same thing.

It means to avoid someone.

And I always like to use the example of a boss

that's in a bad mood.

So if your boss is in a bad mood,

a coworker might say to you,

"Hey, steer clear of the boss today,

he's in a bad mood or stay clear of the boss today.

He's in a bad mood."

So both of those phrases mean exactly the same thing.

And both of them mean to stay away or to avoid someone.

So if someone's in a bad mood,

it's always a good idea to stay clear

or to steer clear of them.

Because you know, when people are in a bad mood,

sometimes it's best just to give them their space so that

they don't say something mean to you.

That's never fun is it?

So again, if something is crystal clear,

it means that you understand it completely.

And if you want to stay clear or steer clear of someone,

it means that you are going to try avoid them

and try to be far away

from them as much as possible.

So hopefully you don't stay clear

or steer clear of my videos because

So this is from the video where I looked at the phrase,

burning a hole in my pocket.

So when you have money that you just really want to spend,

we say it's burning a hole in your pocket.

And Rodrigo continues, I don't have much though.

I am a technophile though.

So a technophile is someone who really likes technology

and I share the same character trait or problem,

depending on how you want to describe it with Rodrigo.

I am a technophile.

And when you are a technophile,

you tend to spend money.

My response was, I have the same problem.

I really love new technology and always have.

Sometimes I have to really hold back

when I want to buy a new phone or camera

or computer or some other form of technology

that's really, really interesting to me.

So again, a technophile is someone

who loves technology and usually

someone who's good at using technology.

And if you are a technophile like me or Rodrigo,

you probably always like to buy new things

because let's face it,

some things that you buy last a really long time,

but technology, there always seems to be something new

and better coming out right after

you've bought something that you really like.

So anyways, I hope these lessons are really helping you.
