Hi, everybody.

नमस्कार मंडळी.

In this video, we’re going to learn about possessive adjectives.

या व्हिडीओमध्ये आपण possessive adjectives बद्दल जाणून घेणार आहोत.

We use possessive adjectives to show that something belongs to me,

काहीतरी माझ्या मालकीचे आहे किंवा काहीतरी दुसर्‍याचे आहे

or something belongs to someone else.

हे दर्शविण्यासाठी आम्ही possessive विशेषण वापरतो

I own something or someone owns something.

. माझ्याकडे काहीतरी आहे किंवा कोणीतरी काहीतरी मालक आहे.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

So let’s take a look at the board.

Now last time we learned about subjective pronouns

आता गेल्या वेळी आपण व्यक्तिपरक सर्वनामांबद्दल शिकलो

and here they are.

‘I’, ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, ‘you’, ‘we’, ‘they’.

And here are the possessive adjectives.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

‘My’.

'माझे'.

We use ‘my’ to show that something belongs to me.

एखादी गोष्ट माझी आहे हे दाखवण्यासाठी आपण 'माय' वापरतो.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

‘His’.

'त्याचा'.

This means that something belongs to one man or one boy.

याचा अर्थ असा की काहीतरी एका पुरुषाचे किंवा एका मुलाचे आहे.

‘Her’.

'तिची'.

We use that to show something belongs to one woman or one girl.

एखादी गोष्ट एका महिलेची किंवा एका मुलीची आहे हे दाखवण्यासाठी आम्ही ते वापरतो.

‘Its’.

'त्याचे'.

We use ‘its’ to show that something belongs to an animal.

एखादी गोष्ट एखाद्या प्राण्याचे आहे हे दाखवण्यासाठी आपण 'त्याचा' वापर करतो.

We use ‘your’ to show that something belongs to you.

एखादी गोष्ट तुमची आहे हे दाखवण्यासाठी आम्ही 'तुमचे' वापरतो.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

‘Our’.

'आमच्या'.

‘Our’ means that something belongs to me and you or me and somebody else.

'आपले' म्हणजे काहीतरी माझे आणि तुमचे किंवा माझे आणि इतर कोणाचे तरी आहे.

Okay, or me and other people.

ठीक आहे, किंवा मी आणि इतर लोक.

Okay, and last.

ठीक आहे, आणि शेवटचे.

We use ‘their’ to show that something belongs to many people.

एखादी गोष्ट अनेक लोकांची आहे हे दाखवण्यासाठी आपण 'त्यांचे' वापरतो.

Okay, not me, but many people.

Okay, now I want you to pay attention to three special words.

‘Its’, ‘your’ and ‘their’.

'ते', 'तुमचे' आणि 'त्यांचे'.

Now I want you to notice these words sound like other words.

So you have to be careful not to get them confused.

And I’m going to explain.

‘Its’ sounds like the contraction for ‘it is’; ‘it’s’.

'तो' हा 'तो आहे' साठी आकुंचनासारखा वाटतो; 'ते' आहे.

Okay, so, don’t get that confused.

ठीक आहे, त्यामुळे गोंधळून जाऊ नका.

‘Your’ sounds like the contraction for ‘you are’ ‘you’re’.

'तुम्ही आहात' 'तुम्ही आहात' याच्या आकुंचनाप्रमाणे 'तुमचा' आवाज होतो.

So make sure you use this one to show possession.

त्यामुळे तुम्ही ताबा दाखवण्यासाठी हे वापरत असल्याची खात्री करा.

Okay.

And the last word, ‘their’, it actually sounds like two other words.

ठीक आहे.

आणि शेवटचा शब्द, 'त्यांचा', तो इतर दोन शब्दांसारखा वाटतो.

The contraction for ‘they are’ ‘they’re’

'ते आहेत' 'ते आहेत'

or the word t-h-e-r-e, the other word ‘there’. Okay.

So please don’t get those confused.

Now I know all of this sounds very hard,

Now, here I have a marker.

So, I have to say, “This is my marker.”

“This isn’t your marker.”

Okay, let’s look at this boy.

So, I have to say, “This is his hat.”

“This isn’t your dress.”

Okay, in this picture there’s an animal; a dog…and it has a ball.

ठीक आहे, या चित्रात एक प्राणी आहे; एक कुत्रा...आणि त्याच्याकडे बॉल आहे.

I have to say, “This is its ball.”

मला म्हणायचे आहे, "हा त्याचा चेंडू आहे."

“This is its ball.”

“This isn’t my ball.”

and “This isn’t your ball.”

Now, in this picture, we have two people.

Okay, and they both own this house.

So, “This is their house.”

Okay, now a little bit farther away, we have three books.

And this boy and girl have the books here.

So, we have to say “those”.

And because we have more than one,

And the last one.

आणि शेवटचा.

Here’s the county Korea.

येथे आहे काउंटी कोरिया.

Okay, we all live here.

ठीक आहे, आम्ही सर्व येथे राहतो.

So we say, “This is our country.”

म्हणून आपण म्हणतो, “हा आपला देश आहे.”

“This is our country.”

"हा आपला देश आहे."

Okay, let’s move on to the next part for some more practice.

Okay, this is a mouth.

What should we put?

“my mouth.”

"माझे तोंड."

Okay, next.

ठीक आहे, पुढे.

“John.”

"जॉन."

John is one man or boy.

जॉन एक माणूस किंवा मुलगा आहे.

“John lost ____ bag.”

"जॉनची ____ बॅग हरवली."

Okay, for one man or boy, we say, “his”.

ठीक आहे, एका पुरुषासाठी किंवा मुलासाठी, आम्ही म्हणतो, "त्याचे".

“John lost his bag.”

"जॉनची बॅग हरवली."

Okay, “The parents…”

ठीक आहे, "पालक..."

That’s more than one person. That’s two people.

ते एकापेक्षा जास्त व्यक्ती आहेत. ते दोन लोक.

So, “The parents love ____ baby.”

तर, "पालकांना ____ बाळावर प्रेम आहे."

We have to put…

आपण … “त्यांचे” ठेवले पाहिजे

“their”.

Okay. And here, “The dog…”

ठीक आहे. आणि इथे, "कुत्रा..."

Okay, ‘the dog’ is an animal.

ठीक आहे, 'कुत्रा' हा प्राणी आहे.

So, “The dog eats ____ food.”

तर, "कुत्रा ____ अन्न खातो."

What do we put?

आम्ही काय ठेवू?

We have to say, “its”.

आपल्याला म्हणायचे आहे, “त्याचे”.

“The dog eats its food.”

"कुत्रा त्याचे अन्न खातो."

Okay, let’s look at some more examples.

Let’s continue.

Okay, we have two people, Paul, and Sam.

And the next one. “_____ make-up looks good.”

Whose make-up? Well, usually girls or women wear make-up.

So, I’m going to say,

Okay, so in this video, we learned how to use possessive adjectives.
