Hey how are you? I'm doing okay, just gearing up for the holidays. 

안녕하세요? 저는 잘 지내고 있어요. 휴가 준비만 하고 있어요.

How are you?

어떻게 지내세요?

How are you? The word are, it reduces. 

어떻게 지내세요? 단어는 감소합니다. 그냥

Think of it as just an er ending  on the end of the word 'How'. 

'How'라는 단어 끝에 er로 끝나는 것으로 생각하세요.

How are-- How are you? 

잘 지내요-- 잘 지내요?

We're good. Keeping busy. Brian is in soccer, and John is the coach. 

우리는 좋다. 바쁘게 살다. Brian은 축구 선수이고 John은 코치입니다.

Oh fun. Does he enjoy coaching? It's a bunch of 7-year-olds so  

아 재미있다. 그는 코칭을 좋아하나요? 7세 아이들이 많아서

sometimes I think he just feels like he's herding  cats, but overall I think he's enjoying it. 

가끔은 그냥 고양이를 키우는 것 같은 느낌이 들 때도 있지만 전체적으로는 즐기고 있는 것 같아요.

cats, even though it's pronounced the same. Herding cats. This is an idiom that means trying  

발음은 같지만 고양이를 다치게 하는 것과는 다릅니다. 고양이를 몰다. 이는

to organize or manage people or groups of people  that are very difficult to organize or manage. 

조직하거나 관리하기가 매우 어려운 사람이나 그룹을 조직하거나 관리하려고 한다는 뜻의 관용어입니다 .

Herding cats. Yes. That makes sense.
