In today’s video, I’ll give you top tips to make a great cover letter.

Firstly, let’s understand the difference between a CV

and a cover letter.

A CV is a form with personal and professional information based

on your previous working and studying experience,

such as a college degree, languages you speak and

any other course you’ve taken, as well as the time and function

you had in previous jobs.

It’s where you would put your certifications,

and is normally done in topics, whilst a cover letter is a text

written to talk about yourself and what competencies, skills and

experience you have that make you a great candidate for a job position.

This is where you would introduce yourself with personal

and professional attributes.

Let’s take a look at the basic structure of a cover letter.

We start off with a header, using a polite introduction such as,

dear sir, madam, depending on who announced the position,

I’m very interested in your job offer because...

And here, you would give a reason for your interest.

Then, talk about why you are a good fit for this role,

using expressions like, I think I would be a great

fit for this position because...

And then give a reason for it.

Here are some ideas. I have a background in...

Talk about areas you’ve studied or worked in before, like education,

medical practice or engineering.

You can also talk about why your skills and strengths are a good

fit for the position, with the sentence, I have continually strived to improve

my skills by...

And you write how you have improved your skills,

like studying a lot, observing others, taking some kind of class or course.

Then, continue talking about what are your strengths.

This and this are my greatest strengths.

After talking about how you are a good fit for this role,

you can supply information by talking about your

CV or references, using the phrase,

please find my CV in attachment, or I can supply references if required.

Finish the cover letter with a polite closing like,

I look forward to speaking with you soon about this opportunity.
