An alternative to I want is I’m in the mood for something.

Such as, I’m in the mood for sushi,

or I’m in the mood to do something.

Like, I’m in the mood to go shopping today.

According to the Cambridge English Corpus,

I’m in the mood

for is twice as common than I’m in the mood to do something.

But I’m in the mood for is less often negated

than I’m in the mood to do something.

Normally, people say,

I’m not in the mood to clean today.

Or maybe I feel like Japanese food.

Also, instead of saying I want,

you can say, I feel like something.

Such as, I feel like pizza today.

Or I feel like doing something,

such as I feel like cooking today.

Feel like is 12 times more common

than in the mood for,

and 25 times more common than in the mood to.
