Brand New Tongue Twisters! An English Lesson to Help You Pronounce Words with S/SH, H, R, TH, and W!

Tongue twisters are a great way to practice

your English pronunciation.

And I know there's lots of videos on YouTube

where you can learn common English tongue twisters,

but I like to write tongue twisters.

In this English lesson,

I will share with you some tongue twisters I've created

to help you practice making certain English sounds

when you say English words out loud.

So stick around,

these tongue twisters were created just for you,

and I think you'll really enjoy them.

This first tongue twister will help you practice

the S and SH sounds.

And it's kind of appropriate

because we do have snow on the ground behind me.

It goes like this.

Sometimes she shovels soft snow slowly.

Let me say it one more time.

Sometimes she shovels soft snow slowly.

Now what I'm going to do is just pause for a bit

and maybe I'll dance while I give you a few seconds

to try it yourself.

(upbeat music)

And now I'll read it one final time.

Sometimes she shovels soft snow slowly.

This next one is meant to help you practice the H sound.

And it goes like this.

He hates his house because his house is hot.

This is sometimes true for me

because I don't really like it when the house is too warm.

Here it is again.

He hates his house because his house is hot.

Let me do a little dance

and I'll let you practice it once or twice.

And let me read it one more time.

This next one is designed to help you practice the R sound.

And it goes like this.

Running around results in a rapid heart rate.

Let me say it one more time.

Running around results in a rapid heart rate.

Let me let you practice it,

and I'll actually run around

and see if my heart rate goes up.

I'm not sure if that run actually did it,

so I'll have to check my Fitbit here.

Yep, I think it's up just a little bit.

This next one is to help you practice the TH sound,

a really tricky sound when you're speaking English.

And it goes like this.

They threw three things at the thieves.

Apparently they were getting robbed

and they thought throwing things would be a good idea.

Let me read it again.

They threw three things at the thieves.

And now let me just give you a second or two

to practice it yourself.

(upbeat music)

I'm not sure why I'm dancing.

I just thought I needed to do something

while you were practicing.

Anyways, let me read it for you one more time.

They threw three things at the thieves.

It makes me wonder what three things

did they throw at the thieves?

I guess that's another tongue twister, isn't it?

I have to admit, I stole this last one and modified it a bit

from my last tongue twister lesson from a year ago.

And it's to help you practice the W sound.

I just loved the words, so I thought I'd use it again.

When we are cold, we wear warm woolen winter hats.

I don't have mine on today, but when we are cold,

we wear warm woolen winter hats.

So there's one to help you practice the W sound.

Let me do my little dance

while you practice it once or twice.

(upbeat music)

And one more time.

When we are cold, we wear warm woolen winter hats.

I seem to have forgotten mine today,

but I did wear my warm woolen winter gloves.

So that is definitely keeping my hands warm.
