The Lion and the Mouse

사자와 쥐 사자

A lion lay asleep in the forest, his  great head resting on his paws. A timid  

한 마리가 숲속에서 잠들어 있었고, 그의 커다란 머리는 발 위에 놓여 있었습니다. 겁이 많은

little mouse came upon him unexpectedly,  and in her fright and haste to get away,  

작은 쥐 한 마리가 예상치 못하게 그에게 다가왔고, 겁에 질려 도망치려고 서두르다가

ran across the lion's nose. Roused  from his nap, the lion laid his huge  

사자의 코를 가로질러 달려갔다. 낮잠에서 깨어난 사자는

paw angrily on the tiny creature to kill  her. "Spare me," begged the poor mouse.  

분노에 차서 그 작은 생물에게 거대한 발을 얹어 죽이려고 했습니다 . "나를 살려주세요." 불쌍한 쥐가 간청했습니다.

"Please let me go and someday I will surely  repay you." The lion was much amused to think  

"제발 저를 보내주세요. 언젠가는 꼭 갚겠습니다." 사자는

that a mouse could ever help him, but he  was generous and finally let the mouse go.

쥐가 자기를 도울 수 있다는 생각에 몹시 웃었지만, 결국에는 관대하게 쥐를 놓아주었습니다.

Some days later while stalking his prey in the  forest, the lion was caught in the toils of a  

며칠 후, 사자는 숲에서 먹이를 사냥하던 중 사냥꾼의 그물에 걸렸습니다

hunter's net. Unable to free himself, he  filled the forest with his angry roaring.  

. 그는 자신을 자유롭게 할 수 없었고, 분노에 찬 포효로 숲을 가득 채웠다.

The mouse knew the voice and quickly found the  lion struggling in the net. Running to one of  

쥐는 그 목소리를 알고 그물 속에서 몸부림치는 사자를 재빨리 찾아냈다.

the great ropes that bound him, she gnawed  until it parted, and soon the lion was free.

그녀는 그를 묶고 있던 커다란 밧줄 중 하나로 달려가 밧줄이 끊어질 때까지 계속 갉아먹었고, 곧 사자는 자유로워졌습니다.

"You laughed when I said I would repay you," said  

"내가 갚겠다고 말했을 때 너는 웃었지."

the mouse. "Now you see that  even a mouse can help a lion."

쥐가 말했다. "이제 쥐조차도 사자를 도울 수 있다는 것을 알았군요."
