What did you do on the weekend? I went...my...my volunteer.

Volunteer. Volunteered. Ah, you volunteered at...?

In the shelter. At the animal shelter. Nice.

How many hours? Three hours. Three hours. That's good.

Yeah. So, you can say, "I volunteered at the shelter." Yeah? Did you do anything else?

No. No? Just stayed at home? How was your weekend?

Uh, we cleaned the house.

That sounds like fun. I'm joking. Right? Yeah. Is it fun to clean?

Yes. We...turned...turned music. Yeah. And cleaned.

That helps. You can say "turn on": we turned on music.

Or we put on music. So, you turned on music and you cleaned. Yeah.

That makes it easier. Sure.

Did you vacuum? Yes. I didn't. Did you

dust? Yes. Yeah? I didn't. Did you do laundry? Yes. Me too.

Okay. Did you clean the bathroom? Yes. Yeah? I know. I did too. Yeah.

So, notice that when you say, um, if you did something

and I did something, I could use the word "too."

And often in conversation, we say, "Me too." Me too -- it's very casual.

I cleaned. Oh, me too. I did laundry. Me too. All right? It can be almost

anything. Okay? Can you make me say "me too"?

And Andreia say "me too"?

I like to travel. Oh, me too. Me too.

I like to cook. Me too.

Say, "Not really, not really." Okay. That didn't work.

Can you make us say, "me too"?

I like chocolate. Me too. Oh yeah. Me too.

Think of something that only maybe you like or you have.

I like Bon Jovi.

You like what?

I don't know what Bon Jovi is.

Oh! Bon Jovi!

Yeah. I kind of like them. Okay. Me too.

Can you agree with me? If you agree, say, "Me too." If you don't agree,

say, "Oh, I don't." Or say what you do differently.

I like pizza.

I have a lot of photos on my phone.

If I talk about the past, you can say, "Me too."

Or "I didn't." I ate breakfast this morning.

I slept well last night.

If I talk about the future with "will," you can say,

"Me too" or "I won't." I'll take a shower later tonight.

I'll get up early tomorrow morning.

What if I use "be going to"? Then you can agree with "me too" or say,

"I'm not." I'm going to exercise tomorrow morning.

I'm going to do laundry this weekend. Remember in fast speech, "be going to"

often sounds like "gonna." I'm going to do laundry.

I'm gonna do laundry.

Let's continue. How do we agree with a negative statement?

Listen.

Okay, ladies. We practiced with "me too." The opposite is "me neither."

So, when I say something negative (I can't, I'm not, I don't have, I didn't) -- anything

negative, we use "me neither." I don't like to clean. Me neither.

Right? I love music. Oh, I love music. Me too.

Um, I don't love very loud music. Me neither. Me neither.

Get it? So, this time we're going to make each

other say "me neither." I'll try one more time. Um, when I go

shopping, I don't...At the grocery store. When I go

grocery shopping, I don't like to spend a lot of money.

Me neither. But I do! Me too. I don't like it. I'm like at the

register, "Oh!" Yes. "Oops!"

Buying milk and bread and cookies. Yeah, but I don't like it. Um...

I don't know how to ski. Me neither.

Ski. Like when it snows, and people put skis on their feet and they go down

the hill. That's skiing. I don't know how.

I don't know how to ski. Ah! Me neither.

I don't know how. Okay. So, anything negative. Can you make us say, "Me neither"?

impolite people or people impolite? Impolite people.

You could say "impolite." That's a good word.

Impolite. You can also say "rude." I don't like rude people.

I don't have short hair.

Me neither. Me neither.

Okay. So, now just listen. Am I speaking with a positive verb or a negative verb?

Right? Um, I wear makeup.

I wear makeup. Me too.

Wear. Wear. I wear makeup. Wear..is like you put it on. You wear

clothes. The same for clothes? Yep. You wear clothes and you wear makeup.

Okay? Um... I don't like sad animals. Me too.

I don't like...Me neither. Because I see a sad animal, and I'm sad.

Yeah. Okay. Um, I don't have a hundred pairs of shoes.

Me neither.

But I have probably, like, more than ten shoes. I have more

than ten pairs of shoes. I have more than ten pairs of shoes.

Me too. Slippers, shoes, boots, dress shoes. Yes. I think.

I have ten pairs of shoes or more. I have more than ten pairs.

I have... Yeah, me too. Oh, she's a lot! Yeah. How many do you? I don't know,

but more than 20. More than 50? No. I think

almost 20. Twenty pairs of shoes. Yeah. Me too.

I don't. Say, "I don't have that many."

I don't have many.

Can you agree with me? If you agree, say, "Me neither." If you don't agree,

you can say, "Oh, I do." Or say what you do differently.

I never smoke.

I never skip breakfast.

If I talk about the past, you can say, "Me neither"

or "I did."

I didn't exercise this morning.

I didn't wash the dishes last night. If I talk about the future with "will,"

you can say, "Me neither" or "I will."

I won't do laundry tonight. I won't take any trips this month.

What if I use "be going to" for the future? Then you can answer, "Me neither" or

"I am." I'm not going to go to bed early tonight.

I'm not going to eat a big dinner today.

Again, remember "be going to" often sounds like

"gonna" in fast speech.

Maybe you know other ways to agree. For example,

I like pizza. So do I. I don't like boxing. Neither do I.

Those are useful to know and maybe we can practice them

in a future lesson. For now you can use "me too" and "me neither" to agree.

They're more informal. We use them in relaxed

conversation. We use them with people we're close to,

like friends. Okay?
