So, that's why we sometimes struggle with water, and you don't have enough water

and you can't wash your car. We were one of the first cities in the world to be

I'm 11 years old studying in sixth grade okay I think

perfect and tell me have you been studying English for a long time

yeah not a long time it's not been a very very long time I am learning

time in India now I think it must be a bit later than here here it is

I remember that I once worked for a company that's based

in India oh did you how did you did you like the

company I like the company um and I like the people very much but I

didn't like the job very much

so that's the only problem I had so then I took a different job then I started

doing this job nice that's great

yes which country do you live I'm from South Africa

you're from South Africa correct I'm from Cape Town have you heard of Cape

Town no I haven't heard of Cape Town but I

presume it must be a nice town. Is it it's very nice I think it's the best

town in South Africa what do you like about the town in which

you live wow okay that is a very very interesting question I think the town is

so unique right there's only one town like that in the entire world and

um over here so of course there are different big cities in South Africa and

most of the big cities are people are so rushed they're so busy all they do is

work they just there's a lot of traffic there's a lot of people and um

there's not much to do but in my city in Cape Town we are so relaxed and we are

and the people are so nice and um we have so many nice things to do right we

are very very close to the beach which is great and um we're very very we have

lots of mountains and we have lots of scenery lots of Nature and most of the

of the um on the outskirts of the city right is very close to the countryside

so you can quickly visit the countryside in the afternoon after work if you'd

like

it sounds amazing yes would you like I would also love to know what do you

don't like about Cape Town wow that's so difficult

you know what I don't like is that it's very difficult to find uh to find a

job over here okay because the people that are here

they don't want to give up their jobs

oh because they like living here they like being here and they don't want to

move away right and that's also why we sometimes struggle with water because we

have too many people wants to be here so that's why we sometimes struggle with

water and we don't have enough water and we should be very careful not to run out

oh sounds a bit interesting can you please tell me more about that

well um because we have

most of our cities are very old cities right so most towns and of course South

Africa is we don't get that much rain so because the cities are so old and the

dams and the reservoirs the water reservoirs

um was built a very very long time ago they're just not big enough

for everyone so if if it doesn't rain if let's say it

rains a tiny bit less one year then we struggle with water

oh so that's that's a scary part Yes sounds really scary

did you phrase the scarcity of water and whenever you did how was your experience

wow it was so crazy let me let me check so um

if I want to check the year when it was uh it was crazy it was let's see I

wanted I want to tell you which year in oh it was in 2018 right in 2018

we were one of the first cities in the world to be very very close to Running

Out of Water and we called it Day Zero

so we referred to as day Zero so what happens then is you're not allowed to

water your garden let's say you have a garden you can't water it you can't wash

your car you can't open any any um tap um unless it's for Hygiene or cooking

reasons right so you're not allowed to use any water and when you shower we we

used to take buckets and put it in the shower right to catch some of the water

and then we would give it to our plants

what could you please what pardon me uh while shower after

that could you please repeat ah so then we take a bucket right

a container and you would put it in the shower with you

and then whatever water would go down the drain will now go into the bucket

into the container and then that water you will use for your plants

oh very very crazy

yeah yeah

so in that year we did not get much rain at all

oh is the weather really very hot

actually but it's always windy so the wind of course causes the water to

evaporate

sounds nice and and then just when we were just when we decided to build a

water purification plant right that can take water from the ocean and turn it

into drinking water it started raining again

crazy thought of just the solution of a thing it started raining when you did

not know it exactly it was so crazy yeah I'm so glad that

that is over yes it's just nice because it was a

scary situation yeah in some places of my native place

but around my native Place stayed where I live there is a kind of

desert

is it very hot it is very hot in the desert normally

but I never went into a desert but really in

my native Place stayed where in the state where I where is where my native

place is located and that's it it's a very large desert

that's so crazy and it's just like sand yeah just like sad that's in India

yeah that's in India wow I never thought that there would be a desert in India

there is a desert also in India wow that's so crazy I think I when

whenever I see a desert or whenever I I hear about it I always imagine what

would I do if I get lost in that case or what

oh my God I think that's crazy that's so crazy and scary right yes it's almost

very very crazy go home all right so hafisha told me do you do you have any

brothers any sisters yes sir I'm blessed with two siblings one brother and one

sister two siblings good wow and are they older or are they younger

they're younger than me so you are the big sister

yeah I'm the biggest one or the oldest one and it's a bit difficult answer how

many siblings do you have are there brother and or sister what are their

names ah I have one sister and I think it

might be a bit difficult for you to pronounce her name but

um she has an an Afrikaans name right so that is one of the Native languages of

South Africa okay and she is called Minette

oh sounds interesting it's a unique name it is a unique name so in South Africa

did you know a fun fact is that we speak 11 different languages in in in South

Africa wow

amazing I can only speak two of them

what are the two I can speak Afrikaans and English

might be Afrikaans that's right that's right so my my my my

mother is Afrikaans nice

so most people here South Africa

can speak English very well but then they can usually speak one or two other

languages wow

that's interesting it's not just interesting it's really

amazing and I find it so cool that I once read

something and it says that if you can speak more than one language your brain

is actually better developed than people that can only speak one language so you

learning English is perfect and it will it will develop your brain even more

Hobbies ooh sometimes I get so tired and I work so much but I really like to go

to the beach because we live so close to the beach right and um I like to watch

movies I like to watch series and um to relax and explore new places

wow what is the recent place you have explored

wow Arisha I went to a close by city for the first time actually

um I think it was about 14 days ago wow it's amazing how was the city was it

nice good or I didn't like it very much but it was an experience

nice have you ever went hiking hiking of course there are so many

places to hike in South Africa and in Cape Town mountains and so on but I see

our time our time is running out and I hope next time we can continue our
