so how has your day been so far? has it been a good one? I really really hope so here in

the UK it has been a splendid day with lots of lovely warm sunshine and the night is about

to get even more amazing because it's just after 10:00 p.m. here in the UK it's a Wednesday

night and this is late and live English

hello there and welcome to another late and live English for those who don't know what

this is it's a program that's broadcasted over the Internet via YouTube and it's late

and it's live and we use the English language so there that's explained everything except

for one more thing hi everybody this is mr. Duncan in England how are you today are you

okay I hope so are you happy I really really really hope so what an incredible day I have

had so far first of all it is very hot here in the studio because we have had an absolutely

glorious day and and just to show how hot it is in the studio I've actually removed

my socks so I'm here at the moment in the studio in my bare feet would you like to have

a look at my bare feet here they are due to do I will give you a little shuffle with my

feet oh yes look at that is it my imagination or do my feet look a little bit dirty I'm

not quite sure but they look slightly dirty or is it the light I'm not quite sure but

these feet have been very busy today I have been walking all over the place with these

feet did you see earlier did you see what I did earlier I was out and about live this

afternoon and for those who missed it this is what you missed I was actually outside

doing a live stream in the beautiful sunshine and here is a small segment of that very live

stream and there I was outside walking around and for those who are interested the live

stream is in fact available now on my youtube channel with subtitles so there it is there

was the scene this afternoon I was outside taking a walk live and I think it's safe to

say that this is the most exercise that I've done during a live stream I think this must

be the most active live stream and when I say active I mean me doing some exercise during

the live stream so I had a lovely walk around the garden and then I went for a walk up the

hill and I showed you lots of lovely sights and of course the sounds as well so if you

want to catch that you can it is available on my youtube channel it has been a glorious

day oh my goodness there is something so comforting about the arrival of summer I don't know what

it is normally when spring arrives I get very excited but as soon as summer arrives I feel

so overjoyed my heart lights up and my soul is lifted not that it needs any lifting normally

to be honest because I'm normally quite a happy chappie to be honest and tonight what

was the weather doing tonight shall we have a little look tonight as well because we did

have some lovely scenery tonight if I can find it is it there is this have we cancelled

it oh okay looks like we've cancelled that oh no we have it here it is here is the view

that I filmed tonight as the Sun was setting and as all the creatures were preparing to

go to bed oh my goodness what a day we have had here I know it's going to get a little

bit boring because I'm going to talk about the lovely weather quite a bit tonight because

I was so excited about the lovely beautiful weather and it was very warm as well and there

you can see the view this evening it was it was one of those lovely evenings where the

birds are singing and everything is lovely and it's not cold it wasn't cold this evening

in fact now I think at the moment it's about 18 degrees which is very warm for night time

so I had a lovely lovely walk although to be honest my back is aching a little bit so

I have a slightly painful back at the moment just a little bit and my feet are aching as

well so there you can see the view this evening some beautiful sights and if you want to catch

my live stream from this afternoon it is available as I said on my youtube channel so their view

this evening oh isn't that beautiful I love this time of day for people who take photographs

or film with video cameras we always call the final hour of sunlight the magic hour

it's something that a lot of people say especially like me if you are into photography the final

sunshine of the day the final hour of sunlight is is called the magic hour oh my goodness

so to say that I'm feeling happy is an understatement because I feel really really happy because

it looks as if summer has actually arrived yes I'm not joking it looks as if we have

summer at last it's been a very long winter a very long cold wet damp miserable winter

also another thing that I mentioned last week I have some unwelcome visitors and here are

the latest pictures or at least one picture of the lady birds that have decided to invade

my house and this is a photograph that I took myself and as you can see many of the lady

Birds at the moment are still hibernating although having said that today because the

weather was so warm many of the lady Birds decided to wake up and fly around and there

are hundreds and hundreds in fact there might be thousands thousands of lady birds at the

moment and many of them seem to have made a home in my house which is not very good

to be honest shall we have a look at the live chat well the live chat is of course here

for you to give me your messages and there are some people now on the live chat oh there

we go I can see the live chat is very busy already thank you very much for that hello

on my mobile phone in the sunshine and I think I think it's the farthest that I've ever walked

what we also have a mystery object tonight do you want to see the mystery object okay

so here is the mystery object and this relates to something that I'm doing or I will be showing

on Sunday so here it is here is the mystery object but what is it what is the mystery

object and it has something to do with an activity that I have been doing this week

that's all I will say for now I don't want to give too much away because it will spoil

the surprise but it is related to something that I was doing yesterday and something I

will be doing over the next few days let's just say I am very busy at the moment certainly

today I was very very busy because I was outside walking around mr. Steve will be here in around

yet now Nicole it's funny you should say that because tonight I was sneezing quite a lot

in fact at the moment my nose is itching right now I think I'm going to actually sneeze right

now so mind my nose is very itchy at the moment and earlier I was sneezing a lot so I have

a horrible feeling that my hay fever this year is going to be very severe quite severe

there very bad so every summer I suffer with hayfever which causes my throat to become

sore and I sneeze and my eyes become very itchy oh it's dreadful every year I get hay

fever but tonight after my walk because I had a lovely big walk today which I broadcast

live on YouTube I came back tonight after filming outside and I was sneezing quite a

few times in fact I sneezed for about five minutes and even now my nose feels very itchy

indeed so yes you are right I think actually I might have a bit of hay fever coming on

says is your mystery animal a bat oh you are very smart yes the old-fashioned word flutter

Mouse refers to the bat because near where I live there are lots and lots of bats hanging

upside down in people's roofs spaces so yes we get a lot of bats around here during the

summer months and tonight I know too just two bats were flying around the house I did

notice them because as soon as the warm weather arrives the bats get very excited and they

start flying around so yes it's true the old-fashioned word for the bat is flutter Mouse I'm not

joking it is you can look it up if you don't believe me tonight we are talking about quite

a few things we will be talking about uses of the word hit hit so uses of the word hit

and there are quite a few ways of using the word hit there is one very obvious one there

is a very obvious use but there are some other uses of the word hit as well maybe you know

some of them if you do then you are more than welcome to let me know as well I'm going to

show mr. Steve something very interesting in a moment as soon as he arrives I've got

something to show mr. Steve and I think it's something that he might be very excited about

I think so I think he's going to be very excited by the thing I'm going to show him because

last week mr. Steve got very excited he was watching the TV channel that we normally watch

at the weekend the shopping channel and on that shopping channel they were selling an

electric lawnmower a lawn mower for cutting the grass that was powered by batteries and

mr. Steve got very very excited by this and I said to him you don't need a new lawnmower

you have one already all you have to do is take your lawnmower and have the large blade

that cuts the grass have it sharpened so that's what he did but I found some lovely video

footage that I filmed a few months ago during one of my big walks and I'm going to show

mr. Steve the actual video and I want to see what his reaction is because I think he will

get very excited talking of video footage here is the mystery object again what is it

this is the thing that I will be showing you more of on Sunday it is not a vacuum cleaner

quite a few people are saying is it a vacuum cleaner no it is not it is not a vacuum cleaner

it is something else it is a very useful piece of equipment it is a very useful device and

I will explain more about it on Sunday I have some special things to talk about on Sunday

including all of the busy busy work that I've been undertaking and now I can see mr. Steve

has just arrived I think mr. Steve will be here in a moment I don't know where he's gone

I think he's gone to the toilet that's what I reckon so I will show mr. Steve something

of you to say so I have had such a busy day today I can't begin to tell you how busy I've

says the bats want to eat maybe oh maybe the bats will eat the ladybirds well I wish they

would I wish someone would eat the ladybirds because they are being such a pain at the

moment the lady birds are everywhere there are so many of them apparently if if a lady

bird is attacked it will actually produce a yellow substance which apparently tastes

very bad to to whoever is trying to eat the lady bird so yes if a lady bird is attacked

or disturbed it will actually produce a thick yellow liquid which apparently tastes really

bad to any of the Predators so apparently that's one of their defence mechanisms the

other defence mechanism of course is fly away and did you know that lady birds are one of

many varieties of beetle it's true on Sunday we will talk more about lady birds because

now arriving here in the studio it's someone who is more beautiful than a lady bird and

just as dainty here he comes walking around the back of me hello it's mr. Steve yes but

just like a lady bird I'm covered in spots yes really well on your body I have to see

a doctor no I'm joking I'm joking good look at this mr. Duncan guess what this is okay

then let's have a look now this oh it has the number 200 I think maybe it is is it a

raffle ticket it's a raffle ticket yes so quite often as a way of raising money so because

you belong to an amateur dramatic group they try to raise money and they have a raffle

so what you do you buy tickets and then later they will draw the numbers and the numbers

correspond with prizes and this number is 200 so if this is the number that's called

out you might win a prize now are you telling me mr. Steve are you telling me that tonight

you win a prize guess what number was called out tonight was any one prize a bottle of

wine we put a pound in each and guess what number was called out tonight was it 200 no

it was a hundred and 99 Oh let's run off anyway that's the closest I've come in in in months

it doesn't really matter because I don't like wine and you don't drink wine but all I can

say is I'm so glad it wasn't a box of chocolates because then I would have been very very angry

it was a nice bottle of Merlot we could have taken it to a party hmm because often when

you go if you're invited to a party or to somebody's house for a meal then you want

to take something with you and quite often wine is a good thing to take I think so and

so we've got a few bottles of it work have given me I've won in raffles so yes unfortunately

I didn't win it tonight for mr. Steve it would have been yes so yes we put a pound in each

which is you know about a euro isn't it just just slightly less than a year oh I think

it's about 6 more than a year oh yeah point eight of a point nine of a pound I have no

idea what the euros worth now I don't know what the euro is worth because I don't use

your no I think it's sort of 0.9 something like that because here in the UK we armed

because here in the UK we are very awkward and we still have our own money the pound

where is everyone else in Europe has the euro we have to be very awkward because you know

that's what the British tend to do we're not giving up our pounds we're not giving up our

pound you'll have to take it out of my cold dead hand they've got the Queen's face on

up on our coins and on our notes and we're not giving that up for anyone you know I've

never really seen a euro I've never I've never actually held a euro in my hand ever all right

I've never used them I've never I've never used euros all right I'm pretty sure I haven't

what's there having Turkey Oh wasn't it yes they don't have the euro no so yes I've never

really used euros have used lots of other currencies like the yuan in China we all know

you've used that and yes I think it's is it lira in Turkey I think it's Turkish lira Turkish

Turkish lira seem to remember so we've used those because we've been to Turkey twice so

yes we've used Turkish lira when we we've been to Greece before when were they in Europe

when we went there no the last time we went to Greece they were still using the the is

that the drachma yes drachma the drachma I love that I think it's one of the the best

names thought for local currency my favorite of course has to be the dong dong do you know

today it was 21 degrees and I was outside today walking around I I did a livestream

impressed yes you are through the woods with the wild garlic wild garlic I believe that

is it is the wild garlic interestingly enough where in April and the still no leaves on

the trees yet though many of the trees are still bare they are but with this hot weather

it won't be long before the leaves are out so yeah where you were how long were you doing

your live stream for then this afternoon mr. Duncan today I was on for about an hour and

ten minutes so although it seems it seemed much longer to be honest it seemed a lot longer

because it was hot and I was walking I did so much walking today I can't begin to tell

you how much walking I did only right up there it wasn't too bad it was damp in certain places

but if mainly it was really nice it was lovely it was so hot though when I got back home

I was absolutely exhausted it was hot in the car I thought am I gonna have to switch the

aircon on today for the first time this year mm-hmm and will it work yes that's the big

the the raffle prize that's probably because mr. Steve lost tonight he although it doesn't

accurate I was that was bought for me as a present yes one of your friends actually gave

it to my friends okay yes as a birthday present said you can have a day it was it was a voucher

you took it to the Morgan factory and they gave you a Morgan and we drove all over the

place and it said now I've never owned a Morgan no it was actually a Boneshaker yes a car

to be in it was very uncomfortable it wasn't the most comfortable of cars but many collectors

love owning their own Morgan but we took it out and we did some filming as well for one

of my lessons I might try and find it on Sunday I might play a little bit of it on Sunday

I'll try and find some of it where we drive the Morgan well I don't drive it I'm sitting

in the passenger seat but mr. Steve drives it and there are some some video clips of

us actually in the Morgan old-fashioned car looks like it was it was made in around 1950

yes Oh or earlier the original Morgan doubt liked it the original Morgan had only three

wheels it did that's correct it only had three wheels and this one had it had a wooden chassis

yes might explain why it was so uncomfortable yes it wasn't the most comfortable of cars

work in your garden mr. Steve have you started gardening yet well not yet but I'm going to

start very shortly I've had the haven't mowed the grass yet I haven't done the first memory

of the grass that's that is growing quite quickly it's going to have to be done very

soon but I've taken the blade to be sharpened I mentioned this just before you came back

yes because I have something quite interesting to show you would you like to see something

interesting Steve I've probably seen it before do you remember when we went to a place called

carding Mill Valley I do and we saw something quite amazing now last week you were talking

about lawn mowers and it reminded me of this particular thing do you remember this oh yes

the remote-controlled lawn mower isn't that just amazing look that now now there is a

lawn mower but it's driving itself and the man behind it is controlling it with a remote

control so there it is so it's cutting not only the grass but also the bushes as well

it's a very powerful machine so I just thought that was amazing when we saw it in fact I

was so amazed I couldn't resist filming it so I think Steve you want one of those in

your garden yes but I wouldn't want to walk around with it I don't want to sit on it I

don't see the point of that I mean he's still having to do quite a lot of work why doesn't

he just sit on it and drive it well maybe you could just sit in your armchair by the

window and control it from inside the house it was on quite a slope yes it yes that's

amazing yes yes I was really blown away by that so I know mr. Steve likes these sort

of devices and gizmos and gadgets and certainly things for using in the garden because you're

quite keen on gardening though I do like gardening and I'd like a new lawn mower but it's only

four years four years old so I can't justify that expense I had to talk Steve out of buying

a battery powered lawnmower last week because we were watching our favourite shopping channel

and they were selling this this lawn mower and it's battery operated which is very unusual

so but yours is powered by petrol petrol good old-fashioned petrol mower but you don't like

it oh I do like it it'll go on for many I bet I better I bet that lawn mower but go

on for about 20 years okay and I service it myself I bought a new spark plug for it oh

okay so I'm gonna put a new spark plug in and change the oil I've had the blade sharpened

so I'll be good for the rest of the summer I saw a Marten earlier is he still there yes

oh yes hello Martin Martin one of our friends from from real life what a mother do you actually

have friends whatever that is well why wouldn't we we've got at least one anyway what a interesting

tested Oh of course yes the Tesla the tester yes and and uber uber has been testing them

but abandoned the testing hmm at the moment because somebody died there was a serious

accident about two weeks ago in and someone was killed by one of these driverless cars

apparently apparently I don't think it was the fault of the car okay I better report

about it I'm not entirely sure but I think it was sort of probably not the fault of the

car but the car should have stopped and didn't I'm not quite sure but and of course somebody

died in a test so didn't they when there when they thought it was going to stop yes when

the lorry crossed its path and apparently they can only they can't recognize big stationary

objects or some Mosu so if the object is large and not moving maybe certain colour yes maybe

they maybe the car doesn't recognize it so it will still it will just keep going and

smash into it so I think the I think the accident with the Tesla was was a lorry wasn't it I

think the car hit a lorry it did he did hit a lorry but I think they've changed the the

software on the car on that now director call me old-fashioned Steve but call me old-fashioned

but there is nothing more reassuring than having a person sitting next to you in the

car with their hands on the steering shifts on the steering wheel yes they're actually

controlling the car I'm not a big fan of driverless cars to be honest I'm not I'm a bit of a sceptic

so yes but I do like it when I'm in the in the car with Steve because Steve is a very

good driver oh yes well I have been driving for about 35 years how did the way you say

it so quietly is it as if you're embarrassed and I have to do what I do about twenty five

thousand miles a year is it true is it true then when you started driving the car you

had to wind it up at the front is it true you had to wind the car is it true you had

to wind it you had to turn the big handle on the front to get the car started is it

true no oh and you know for well it isn't mr. doom shall we see what's happening on

there are many ways of improving your spoken English and also your listening skills as

well you can practice on your own or in a group you could find some people who have

a similar interest so I always think it's a good idea if you live in an area where there

aren't many people who speak English you can try to find people who have an interest in

the English language and this is something I've mentioned before and so you can go out

you can put a notice up or put something on the internet and try to create a group so

the group can be on the internet or maybe in real life maybe you can meet people directly

who share a similar interest so you can practice your English together how is that is that

a good idea I think so I think it's a very good idea do you yeah very modest over here

is the mystery object used oh I think a lot of people here are getting this right now

lawnmower like like the sheep or cows here yeah that's a good idea maybe we could we

the grass nice and short it would but then you would have to go outside and pick all

is huge it's like the size of a dustbin lid did he as big as yours no one wants to do

the biggest alamin animals probably an elephants could probably got pretty you know I think

elephant poop is big what's the biggest land animal wait yes I've actually seen a little

bit of Potamus elephant poop it's because they're there poop is like big sort of balls

big brown balls so yes I think elephant poop is probably the biggest poop of any animal

I think certainly I'm doing the ocean I would imagine a lot of whales well sometimes mr.

Steve Wynn is a bit constipated a whale that must have some pretty large fecal matter do

you think whales poop I think they're good I've never I've never sort of thought about

it it do whales do they actually poop don't think we've ever seen that on a wildlife program

have we we've seen everything else at the whale does every other thing that the whale

maybe it's like a goldfish it comes out and a little little sort of like black string

out of its bum so it's ever so funny when when a goldfish has a poop because they can't

hide it I if I was a fish I would be very embarrassed I would have to go in hide at

the bottom of the lake behind a big rock to take a poop because you can't really hide

it so you're swimming around and there it is sort of trailing behind you you poop it

would probably break off in water with natural water with a strong current all I can say

is I'm glad human beings don't have that problem well well others do some of us do don't excuse

some of the other pupils were really horrible to me so I didn't have a very good time at

school and to make matters worse this is this is true in my school they used to play rugby

I was too fragile I think that's true I didn't know you then but I've seen pictures of you

when you were a child it looked like your parents weren't feeding you it's not very

skinny I was so thin he was so thin you could see were you bones I was like I was like a

skeleton when I was when I was a teenager and when I was a child I was so skinny but

the teachers wouldn't let me play rugby because they said I was too fragile and to make things

worse that that's what they said that the word they used was fragile but weren't you

I don't know whether you want me to mention this when you were born yeah you were you

were premature weren't you when I came out good to see that this is my representation

of me being born did you enjoy that no rather embarrassing

I thought I was born yes I was born two months premature exactly I was very tiny and the

doctors didn't think I would survive so they put me inside one of these big glass cases

called an incubator and I was very tiny you could you could put me put me in the palm

of your hand what did you weigh about less than a bag of sugar so less than 2 pounds

so less than 2 so not even 2 pounds in weight I was very tiny and they said that then I

wouldn't survive and so they got my parents to name me straightaway so they wanted to

they said you must give him a name straightaway because he might not survive I don't know

why but they named me Duncan on the spot that's the name they gave me that's all they could

come up with yes but I love the name Duncan it's very individual so rare that probably

me explains why as a child you were a bit a bit skinny yes you may not as well-built

as other children if you're a because you poor thing you were prematurely born and weren't

expected to survive I used to have all sorts of illnesses and ailments I had a fever hay

is more trust worthy so one you can trust well I would say that there aren't any actual

100% trustworthy news channels what I tend to do I often look at many different news

sources so on the internet or on television so I watch all different types of news services

or news media so for example I watch BBC news i watch Sky News I also watch Russian news

Russia Today which by the way at the moment here in the UK Russia today is about to be

punished for all sorts of strange things by the UK government they are doing some sort

of investigation for some reason I don't know why but Russia today and also sometimes I

watch al Jazeera as well we can't watch it on television here we used to have it but

it's not there anymore but you can watch al Jazeera on YouTube so there are many different

types of TV news also radio news newspapers and of course lots of news services on the

Internet so there are lots in there but the most I think the most trusted one probably

you would say would be the BBC News yes even though the BBC but they are all a bit biased

so BBC is often criticized for the way it reports on things so yes I I think it's best

to look around and yeah get your news from many different places and then you can make

your own mind up yes I think I think that's what I would do anyway are you tired because

of your war yes I am Anna my legs are really aching please mr. Duncan I spent some money

on roulette and betting what must I do now well first of all I would stop doing it that's

the first thing you should do I need advice well well I don't gamble myself I've never

gambled I don't even play the lottery that's how little I gamble I don't even play the

national lottery or any gambling for that matter so so I think the best way to stop

gambling is not to do it in the first place well that's not going to help positive very

much because he is gambling and he wants to know how to stop saying you can't go back

in time no now if you could then you wouldn't you would have a lot of money because then

you can go back in time and put bets on things and then you could sort of win lots of money

because you would know what the outcome would be but sadly we don't have time machines but

you might want to talk to a group maybe there's a local group where you live you've made the

to someone about it but we're not experts in that but I'm certainly not a gambling addiction
