that he would like to go to greece perhaps when the lockdown officially comes to an end

had an invitation to go to france we've had an invitation to go to brazil we've had an

invitation to go back to turkey so lots of invitations so we might we might go on holiday

not this year i don't think it's going to happen this year unfortunately but maybe in

2022 we will start travelling again we really do hope so

that can be seen or understood very clearly is vivid

very strange places i made an english lesson many years ago in china when i was living

there i've also made an english lesson in turkey i've made one in malaysia i've also

made well i actually did a live stream in france on the streets of paris believe it

or not and i've also done a live stream from portugal so i have done some videos i've recorded

lessons but i've also done some live streams from different parts of the world as well

and as i just mentioned a few moments ago i would like to do some more travelling maybe

next year so i don't think i will be travelling anywhere this year unfortunately i have decided

not to worry about it i'm not going to think about it i think if i was realistic and i'm

not trying to build my hopes up when you build your hopes up it means you are looking forward

to something happening so your hopes build up because you are really hoping something

will happen your hopes are built up so i am not going to build my hopes on travelling

this year but so so i think realistically i don't think i will be travelling until 2022

would you like to return to china maybe one day maybe one day i will go back there i think

that my dream has something to do with leaving the past behind so i think the dream that

i have about being lost so sometimes i am lost in china sometimes i am lost in malaysia

that i was going to show you on sunday but we didn't have time this is mr steve not live

this is something we recorded i think it was last year in fact and we are both in the garage

talking about mr steve and all of the work he was doing in the garage to make it tidy

now i'm sure you have maybe a room in your house maybe a part of your house where there

is lots of junk well guess what the place where we keep our junk is the garage and in

this video you will see mr steve has been busy tidying the garage and then after this

we will we will look at some words connected to making mistakes when things go wrong and

also some unusual english words as well so don't go away still lots of things to come

okay here we go oh that was a quick change i hope you enjoyed the flags of the world

which flag is your favourite okay we're now downstairs and mr steve has been very busy

this week we are now in the garage and a few weeks ago steve got very upset because the

garage was very messy there there was junk everywhere but last week mr steve decided

to roll his sleeves up and he decided to clear out the garage get rid of all the junk and

that's exactly what you've done isn't it it is well a year ago i bought some shelving

some self assembly shelving and my intention was last year to put this up and tidy all

the garage up because all the stuff you see on these shelves which i put together all

by myself no help from mr duncan um it was just piled up everywhere and it was a mess

and when i went into the garden i couldn't find anything if i wanted a trowel if i wanted

something to sweep up the paths i couldn't find anything very annoying yes so basically

everything in here was a mess it was cluttered that's a great word cluttered so if something

is cluttered it means it is very messy it is disorganized we say something is cluttered

so what you decided to do steve first of all he built his shelves and the shelves look

lovely by the way shelve so you can say shelf singular or shelves plural and of course shelf

is something you put things on normally for storage or a flat surface that is stable also

shelf can be used in a very interesting phrase to be left on the shelf if you are left on

the shelf it means you have been abandoned or you are unwanted a person who can't find

a partner they can't find a girlfriend or a boyfriend and they spend the rest of their

life alone we can say that they have been left on the shelf and you can shelve something

shelve if you shelve something it means you put it aside to a later date so you put something

away and then maybe you will go back to it later you shelve something you postpone something

you put something on hold you shelve it so in that sense it is used as a verb like a

project a project you had a project and then you decided you couldn't go any further with

it you would put that on the shelf you would shelve it yes you would shelve something you

would wait until another day and then maybe have a look at it again with fresh ideas so

mr steve decided to roll his sleeves up and he did actually i must admit can i just congratulate

steve congratulations because you've done such a good job i can't believe that this

is the same garage it looks so different it's only taken us six years to get around to tidying

it up only six years but it looks great anyway so so what what is on your shelves steve show

us your shelf ah well i've got all sorts of things on these shelves um look i've got this

is for sweeping up after i've been cutting things and there's debris all over the paths

and i want to sweep up afterwards i've got this this is called a dustpan dustpan we've

seen this before this is my hedge trimmer and that used to be just hanging around on

the floor and i'm not going to get that back on yes i am there we go this is what i particularly

like mr duncan because this is when i'm doing the the lawn mowing to get rid of the noise

i wear these headphones but they come very in useful very nice when i'm don't want to

listen to mr duncan anymore they are very in useful time

say something mr duncan say something mr steve you you have very stinky feet what was that

again i didn't hear a word you said mr duncan i said you have very smelly feet i wear these

most of the time around the house so that i can't hear mr duncan there we go so there

mr steve's earphones or ear defenders come in very handy very useful

these are my shears for chopping off things that are sticking out

oh mr duncan you just might be making noise does it what else we've got here i've got

an extension lead so that i can plug things in and uh and basically uh use them uh a long

way from the source of the power i'll shall i reel you back in mr duncan i'll reel you

he's caught me like a fish i've got some petrol here some petrol i could swash that all over

mr duncan and set fire to him but we won't do that because that wouldn't be very nice

spray and leave and you just spray it all over and it kills all the moss kills it all

dead and these are various garden implements i've got uh some pots here for putting plants

in what's this for that ah that goes on the bottom of a plant pot to enable it to drain

so when you put the water in the pot it will allow the water to drain away very good of

course if i've been working very hard uh i might get thirsty so um i might want to make

myself a nice cup of tea wait a minute this is this is my cup this is from one of my english

lessons who remembers one of one of my english lessons where i had my big cup so this is

mine how dare you can i have it back mr duncan no i'll put that away later he's gonna break

it he doesn't want me to make noise putting it back on the shelf that's it we've got all

the dust sheets the dust sheets on the top here i don't think that's visible uh all right

okay well we have got dust sheets and all my car stuff so it's all nice and neat it's

mr steve bought the other day look at this it's a lovely watering can and it's made of

metal so normally nowadays you will find most watering cans will be made of plastic like

that one but this one is made of metal perhaps if i rub it maybe if i rub the side maybe

a magic genie will come out and grant me three wishes i wonder if it'll be Will Smith

well i've got to take this back because it's broken this is the rose you call it the rose

that goes on the end and it's broken already and i've only just bought it so i'm gonna

take this one back and get my 12 pounds 50 back that's not very good is it anyway look

a good idea mr duncan what a brilliant idea okay then let's do that shall we here we go

with some strange english words i'm going to put them on the screen for you so you will

be able to see them and here is the first strange english word coming up right now oh

how do you pronounce this word dirigible something that you can steer something that can be steered

or guided a dirigible something you can steer such as a boat so quite often we will use

the word dirigible as an adjective or as a noun now the noun refers to a certain type

of vehicle a certain type of transportation so first of all as an adjective it is able

to be steered such as a boat or a small airplane so anything that can be steered or controlled

so in other words you are controlling the direction of that thing and then we have it

as a noun dirigible is another word for airship airship quite often you will see airships

they are quite often things that are used for advertising so sometimes you might see

an airship with an advert or some sort of slogan on the side of it and many years ago

of course airships were a common form of transport they were not very safe i think that originally

i think they were filled with hydrogen which is something that explodes very easily so

i think the early airships used to be filled with hydrogen which is something that is very

explosive it will explode very easily it will catch fire and explode very easily so dirigible

i love that word by the way it is a very strange word and we are looking at some unusual english

words right now here's another one fallow this is a word that can be used as an adjective

now and also verb as well fallow something that is empty an empty space or an empty area

quite often used in farming to describe a field where nothing has been planted so maybe

a field where there are no seeds there is nothing growing it has been left with nothing

growing in it devoid of crop devoid now that itself is a very interesting word the word

devoid down there without to be without something you are devoid of crop there is nothing growing

in the field and of course as a verb we can use the word fallow as an a verb that means

to leave something empty to leave something without seeds or plants or anything growing

in that particular area you leave it empty so the word fallow can be used as an adjective

noun and also verb as well a field might be fallow there is nothing growing in that field

it has been left fallow

here's an interesting word oh shackle shackle to shackle is to restrain to hold something

back maybe a person so as a noun we can use shackle as an item that is used to tie a person

or to attach them to something or maybe you are holding their hands or maybe their feet

together using something called a shackle in fact i think i can show you a shackle right

now here it is oh there it is yes there there is a shackle right now on the screen so you

can see now how a shackle is created and also what it is used for it is used for holding

a person's wrists together or holding them in one place it can be used on their hands

and also on their feet as well

shackle also as a verb we can use the word shackle so if you are holding a person in

it's all going wrong something that i will be talking about in a few moments in fact

parallax parallax is our final strange english word the change that occurs when viewing something

from different angles so if you look at something and you will notice this quite often if you

are in your in the window of your house you might look out of the window and things seem

in a certain way however if you move to another position or another place all of those things

will change their position the angle will determine the position of the things you are

looking at and quite often you will find this when you are looking at things that are near

and also distant so as you move those things will also move as well there will always be

a slight difference in the thing that you are looking at used often as a noun there

is a very famous movie that was made i think in the 1970s called the parallax view the

parallax view a brilliant film i think it was ryan o'neal who was in it but it's a great

film and it has a very famous scene at the start of the movie where two people are fighting

on a very high building and one of the people falls off the side it's very well done it's

quite scary as well especially if you don't like heights like me

oh i see you can shackle a person you can shackle their hands together and also their

feet yes you can use shackles to restrain a person by their feet or their hands

you might find that a tree is hollow there is nothing inside hollow

it has gone wrong we might also say what was the error what went wrong so there was an

error something that should have happened did not happen there was an error something

went wrong you might make a mistake when you are giving a speech there was an error something
