First

let's take a moment to define what is an elevator pitch.

Basically, it's a very short way

of introducing your business or promoting yourself.

And the name elevator pitch comes

from this idea that it should be so short

that you could deliver it to someone

in just the time that it takes you to ride the elevator.

I don't know, like to the top

of a building in New York City.

It's a key tool to have in your business, English Toolbox

and you never know when you're gonna need it.

So let's take the time to work on it.

Now, why do you need an elevator pitch?

Because you're gonna use it

in so many different business situations.

That is worth taking the time to craft your pitch

in English May, and maybe also in your native language.

I mean, I've got one in English and in French.

And this is something that's gonna help you in, I mean

every conference that you attend

every networking event, every, I don't know, training event

every kind of situation where you could meet new people

and there might be the potential to meet potential clients

partners, people who know people who could use your services.

So having a pitch that you can deliver

with confidence to meet new people

and tell them clearly what you do.

I mean, you just have to have this in your toolbox.

All right, so let's jump in

and let's actually get started on your pitch.

Now, quick little note, the strategies that we take

to improving your pitch will actually work

for improving any kind

of business English situation that you need to improve.

The idea is to start small.

And today we're gonna look

at one part of your elevator pitch, the introduction.

When you're in a situation

you can start the conversation with confidence

if you know exactly what to say when you meet someone.

For example, hi, I'm Christina.

It's nice to meet you.

Very simple.

I mean, you don't need to be super creative

or sophisticated with it.

Just I would say learn that one little phrase

so that it's easy for you to deliver confidently

if you have a specific job title in your company.

Of course, you can start with that.

For example, if I was giving a short little pitch

here's what I would say.

I'm the founder of business English with Christina

and we specialize in helping tech scale

up build profitable business relationships with Americans.

Now, maybe you're an entrepreneur or you run a small business

and you don't want to focus so much

on your position in the company

but the service or the product that you provide.

For example, you could say

I help entrepreneurs create their business plan

for their E two Visa application.

Or I help companies who are setting

up offices in the US with their fiscal and tax policies.

So that's just two examples, but you can take that structure

and then personalize it for your own services.

So you see, just starting with something very simple

like the introduction of your elevator pitch, it's simple

it's easy, and if you like, know it by heart

it just becomes so much easier to go

and approach someone at an event because you

know exactly what you're gonna say to introduce yourself

and you know that the way that you're saying it

is something that's going to attract the attention

of your target audience.

All right, so I want you, here's a little homework for you.

After this video, I want you to take the

the structure that I've given you and create the

the introduction to your own elevator pitch.
