Learn the English Phrases HERE GOES NOTHING! and TAKE THE PLUNGE - An English Lesson with Subtitles

So, today I wanted to help you

learn the English phrase "Here goes nothing!".

We actually say, "Here goes nothin'!";

we don't even really say the "g" at the end.

But this is a phrase that we say in English.

Before we do something new or something exciting,

we'll just say, "Here goes nothin'!".

This morning I did a live English lesson,

and I used some new equipment.

I used a lot of different things that were new.

And before I started,

I literally said to myself, "Well, here goes nothin'!".

So it's just this kind of cute,

interesting little English phrase

that we say before we do something new

or dangerous or exciting;

we say, "Here goes nothin'!".

You might say that right before you jump out of a plane

with a parachute on.

You might turn to a friend

and say, "Well, here goes nothin'!".

And then you would jump out,

and, hopefully, you would have a fun time.

I, again, will never, ever

jump out of a plane with a parachute.

I'm too afraid to do things like that.

But I will do livestreams, for sure.

So, again, I mentioned that I did a livestream this morning,

and I was using new equipment

because I decided it was time to take the plunge.

In English, when you say

that you are going to "take the plunge",

it usually means that you are going to make a change

or you're going to do something different

in your life or at work

that you know you need to do.

I used to hold up paper

all the time during my livestreams,

and this morning I decided it was time to take the plunge,

and instead of holding up paper,

it was time to have images on the screen.

So I got the equipment I needed,

and it looks like everything went really, really well.

So, before you do something fun or crazy or new,

you say, "Here goes nothin'!",

and when you decide that you need

to do something different in your life

or at work or as a hobby,

you say that you are going to "take the plunge".
