Meaning of TAKE A BREATHER - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So when you take a breather it is the same as taking a break.

It means that you are pausing or stopping what you are doing in order to relax a little

bit, or in order to do other things.

I am currently going to take a breather on my main Youtube channel.

I'm going to take a breather because I have to go back to work.

I have a full-time job.

I am a high school teacher in Ontario, Canada and next week I have meetings and the week

after that school will start.

So I need a little bit of time to get ready to teach so I thought I would take a breather

from making Youtube videos.

I'm still going to be posting these videos though, so there will be a short video every

day on Instagram and on Youtube, but I am going to take a breather so that I have time

to get ready for school.

I thought I would give you a little bit of bonus material, a little bit of extra material

each day.

I will tell you how to use this phrase in the past, the present, and the future.

So if I was talking about yesterday I would say, "I took a breather."

If I'm talking about today I would say, "I am taking a breather."

And if I was talking about tomorrow I would say, "I am going to take a breather.", or,

"I will take a breather."
