Still vs Already vs Yet - English In A Minute

Today, I'm going to tell you the difference between

'still', 'already' and 'yet'.

'아직', '이미', '아직'의 차이점을 알려드리려고 합니다.

They all talk about things around the present,

but they don't mean the same.

하지만 같은 의미는 아닙니다.

We use 'still' to talk about something

우리는 아직 끝나지 않은 것에 대해 이야기할 때 'still'을 사용합니다

that hasn't finished.

We use 'already' to talk about something that

우리는 'already'를 사용하여 이미 완료된 것에 대해 이야기하며

has finished,

and maybe we didn't think it would have by now.

아마도 지금쯤 완료될 것이라고 생각하지 않았을 수도 있습니다.

She's already finished work. She's gone home.

그녀는 이미 일을 마쳤습니다. 그녀는 집에 갔다.

We use 'yet' in questions and negatives

우리는 일어나지 않은 일에 대해 이야기하기 위해 의문문과 부정어에 '아직'을 사용하지만

to talk about things that haven't happened,

but we think they will.

Haven't you left yet? You'll be late!

So just remember:

Things that are 'still' happening, haven't finished.

Things that have 'already' happened, have finished

and things that are 'yet' to happen, haven't started.
