Hello everyone and welcome back to my YouTube  channel! So, today we're going to talk about

phrasal verbs. Now, if you want to learn English,  phrasal verbs are a must! You truly can't live  

phrasal verbs. Ora, se vuoi imparare l'inglese, i verbi frasali sono un must! Non puoi davvero vivere

without them. Native speakers use them all the  time; but before we even get into it, what is a

phrasal verb? What are they? So, whenever you see  a verb plus a preposition, that could be a phrasal

verb. Now, I'm saying "could" because in reality  there's a distinction between prepositional verbs

and phrasal verbs. I'm going to try and be quick  just to give you an idea. So, prepositional verbs

down. They're very self-explanatory, no problem  to understand them. Now phrasal verbs are a

Here are 10 phrasal verbs that I think everybody  should know. Phrasal verb n.1 "to make up".

Now, I'm pretty sure everybody knows this term  um as a noun, you know, the stuff that you put

Another meaning is "to forgive someone" after  you've had an argument with them, so when you

but informally this phrasal verb has a  completely different meaning. "To hang out"

means to spend time somewhere or with someone  so "What are you doing today? Oh, nothing much,

I'm just hanging out by the pool" that means I'm  just spending time there, at the pool. "Hey do

you want to hang out tomorrow?" That is "Hey  do you want to spend time together tomorrow?"

Phrasal verb number three "to break out". We're  going to focus on two meanings here: the first  

Phrasal verb numero tre "scoppiare". Ci concentreremo qui su due significati: il

one is "to escape" "The prisoner broke out of  his cell" for example. That means he escaped,

but figuratively this phrasal verb is commonly  associated with skin, in particular with pimples,

with zits. Let's say you tried a new moisturizer  and the next morning you wake up with a bunch of

Number four "to come across". Again, we're going  to focus on two meanings: the first one is "to

"He came across as a very friendly guy" he gave me  the impression of being very friendly. Number five

"to work out". I'm pretty sure all of you are  familiar with the meaning that has to do with

physical exercise "I work out every day to stay  healthy" that means I exercise every day, but

Nine "to figure out". This has mainly two meanings  that are very much related. It could mean "to

just get it out of the way, has to do with data.  I'm pretty sure you're already familiar with it.

So if you back up a file that means you're making  a copy of it, you're saving it somewhere else,

The second meaning is "to support" and it  could be used literally or figuratively. So

if you back someone up it means you're  supporting them, you have their back

"Don't worry, I will back you up" I will support  you. The figurative use has to do with providing

Again, this is very useful in informal  conversations. So that was it guys! now that  

we're done with it, I wanted to tell you that  I picked 10 phrasal verbs which in my opinion
