Take/Have a Nap: Definition and Examples (English Vocabulary)

Hello, this is Jack from to fluency.com and in this English lesson

we're going to look at the phrase: take a nap.

Now, I used this phrase in one of the videos that I posted on Facebook

so let's have a look at that video now.

My son is taking a nap

at the moment so I'm trying to get a little bit of work done.

In the video, I said "My son is taking a nap at the moment

so I'm trying to get a little bit of work done."

So, to take a nap means to sleep for a brief period

of time and we can also say: have a nap,

So, both of these ways are correct and you might see this in different TV shows

or read it in books you might see someone say take a nap

or have a nap. It's the same as take a shower/

have a shower. So, let's have a look at more examples now with

take a nap: "I need to take a nap."

Now, I say this usually on the weekends when I'm feeling a little bit tired

I'm sure you sometimes say this too

However, some people might say: I never take naps,

and I know some people who never take naps. Now, here is something that's also

interesting:

I won't be able to sleep tonight because I had a nap

this afternoon. Sometimes, when I have a nap, I find it very difficult

to go to sleep at night. So my question in this video

is this: do you feel better or worse
