In this full English lesson, I'm going to give you the tools you need to speak

English fluently about personality.

You are going to learn English words and English expressions that will help

you speak English with confidence, like a native English speaker.

Are you ready?

Well, then I'm teacher Tiffani.

Let's jump right in the very first English word.

I want you to learn is amiable.

Excellent.

Repeat after me again.

Amiable great job.

Now this term amiable literally just means friendly and pleasant or good natured.

Many people say I am amiable.

Would you agree?

Oh, thank you.

And hopefully you are also an amiable person.

Again, an individual who is very friendly and pleasant or good natured.

Amiable, this is our first vocabulary word, but I want you to check out

this example sentence using this word.

Here's the sentence.

Her amiable personality made it easy for her to make friends in her new workplace.

Think about it.

She was so sweet, so kind, everyone loved her.

So it was easy for her to make friends.

Her amiable personality made it easy.

For her to make friends in her new workplace.

That's the very first sentence using this vocabulary word.

What about this sentence?

The amiable shopkeeper always greeted customers with a warm

smile and helpful attitude.

Think about it.

If you walked into a store and the shop owner started smiling at you

and said, Hey, how are you today?

You would feel good and amiable store owner or shop owner makes

his or her customers feel amazing.

You got it.

Yes.

So our second sentence for amiable.

And what about this sentence?

Despite the tense situation, his amiable demeanor helped calm everyone down.

This guy was cool as a cucumber.

This guy was kind.

He was friendly.

He calmed everyone down again, despite the tense situation, his amiable

demeanor helped calm everyone down.

You got it.

Excellent.

So once again, the first vocabulary word is amiable.

Great job.

All right, let's move on now to our second vocabulary word.

The second vocabulary word is conscientious.

Excellent.

Again, conscientious.

Excellent.

Now conscientious does means just means diligent and thorough.

Or careful to do things properly.

She's conscientious.

She wants to make sure things are done in the right order, in the right way.

In English, we say conscientious.

Now check out these example sentences, because they're going to help you

understand how to use this word properly.

As a conscientious student, she always double checked her

work before submitting it.

She worked hard.

She makes sure everything was in its right place.

Every I dotted every T crossed.

She was a very conscientious student.

What about this second example sentence?

The conscientious mechanic made sure to inspect every part of the car.

He wanted to make sure the car looked good.

So he checked every single part and made sure all the details were looking great.

So again, our second word was.

Now, our third word is one that you might not have heard before, but

it's very important for you to know.

Gregarious.

Good again, gregarious.

Excellent.

Now this word gregarious, remember we're speaking about personality, right?

Gregarious just means.

Fond of company and very sociable, fond of company and very sociable, enjoying the

company of others, liking to socialize.

Gregarious now check out this first example sentence.

Here we go.

The gregarious host made sure everyone felt welcome at the party.

Listen, this person said, I want everybody to feel welcome.

Come on, come in.

How are you?

Here's food.

You can sit over here.

What about sentence number two?

Now check out sentence number three, even in a new environment, his gregarious

Now optimistic just refers to being hopeful and confident about the future.

And you know how that plays out in relation to you?

I know that you can do whatever you put your mind to.

Makes sense.

Yes.

Optimistic.

Now check out this first example sentence.

Despite the challenges, she remained optimistic about the company's future.

Listen, things were happening.

The money was getting funny.

The money wasn't coming in, but she, despite the challenges

remain, she remained optimistic about the company's future.

Check out sentence number two, his optimistic outlook on life

helped him overcome many hurdles.

Obstacles.

He was so optimistic.

He had so much hope about the future.

His optimistic outlook on life helped him overcome many obstacles.

And finally, sentence number three.

The team's optimistic attitude contributed greatly to their eventual success.

They were so optimistic.

They believed they could do anything and they worked hard to achieve their goals.

Yes.

So once again, optimistic, excellent job.

All right.

Number five, this is the opposite of optimism after me pessimistic.

Good again, pessimistic.

Excellent.

Now this term pessimistic just refers to.

Tending to see the worst aspects of things and not hopeful.

Yeah, that's not going to work out.

Nope.

Nope.

It's not going to happen.

It's just the way it is.

Pessimistic, tending to see the worst aspect of things and not being hopeful.

You got it.

All right.

Check out this first example sentence.

His pessimistic view of the situation made it difficult for

him to see potential solutions.

He was only thinking about the negative side, his pessimistic view

Next sentence, number two.

The pessimistic forecast dampened the team's enthusiasm for the outdoor event.

They said it's going to rain.

No matter what, it's going to be bad outside.

Now it's time for us to move to our English expressions.

In this full English lesson, you're getting the English vocabulary

words and the English expressions.

Here's our first English expression down to earth.

Good again, down to earth.

Now this expression just refers to being practical, realistic, and unpretentious.

Listen, anybody gets along with her.

Realistic, practical, everything.

Hey, this makes sense.

Since down to earth, now the first example sentence is going to help you with this.

Even more despite her fame, the actress remained down to earth

When you think of somebody that's famous, an actress or an actor, you probably

assume that they're not nice or assume that they won't talk to their fans.

They're kind of in their own environment.

But when you have an actress who is willing to.

Hey, come up to you and have a conversation and be real with you.

Unpretentious.

You can say they are down to earth.

Again, despite her fame, the actress remained down to earth

and approachable to her fans.

Makes sense now.

Right.

Excellent.

All right, here is sentence number two, his down to earth approach to

solving problems or problem solving made him a valuable team member again,

he was so down to earth, so practical.

So his down to earth approach to problem solving made him a valuable team member.

Let's move on to sentence number three, sentence number three, the professors

down to earth explanations helped students grasp complex concepts easily.

Listen, the professor, he just explains things so well.

It's so easy to grasp difficult, complex concepts because of his explanation.

So once again, our first English expression is down to earth.

Good.

Our second English expression is open minded.

Good again, open minded.

Excellent.

Now this expression just means willing to consider new ideas or opinions.

Once again, Hey, you're willing to consider, to think about, to ponder

different ideas and different opinions.

Check out these examples sentences.

Here's the first one.

Being open minded allowed her to learn from people with different

backgrounds and experiences.

She was willing to learn new things.

She was willing to, Hey, understand how someone else thought.

Why?

So again, our second English expression is open minded.

Now the third English expression is a good egg.

Good again, a good egg.

Good again.

Excellent.

Now this just refers to a kind.

Honest or reliable person, again, a kind, honest, or reliable person, someone you

can trust, someone you can depend on someone who will tell you the truth.

We say they are a good egg.

Now check out this first example sentence.

I realized that John is a good egg because he always offers to help

his neighbors with their yard work.

John is a good guy.

John just wants to help people.

Let's go to the second sentence.

Here's the second sentence.

Listen, she might seem extremely tough.

Now look at this fourth expression.

Again, in this full English lesson, we have this expression, a social butterfly.

Good again, after me, a social butterfly.

Excellent.

Now, my sister is a social butterfly.

It just refers to a person who is very sociable and enjoys

interacting with others.

I am a social butterfly, but my sister is even more of a social butterfly.

She loves interacting with people.

She's a great person.

She is.

So social butterfly, how can we use this in a sentence?

Here we go.

Here's the first one.

Emma is such a social butterfly.

She knows everyone at the party within minutes of arriving.

She's a social butterfly.

She loves interacting with people.

She loves greeting them and hanging out with people.

What about this second example, sentence being a social butterfly comes

Now the fifth English expression is another one that you need to understand.

This one is a loose cannon.

Again, a loose cannon.

Excellent.

Now this just refers to an unpredictable or uncontrolled

person who is likely to cause.

Unintentional damage, someone who is not easily predictable.

Like, I don't, I don't know what you're going to do.

Are you going to be upset today or happy?

An unpredictable or uncontrolled person, a loose cannon.

Check out this example, sentence, the new manager is a bit of a loose cannon.

So you never know what he'll say or do next.

You got to be careful.

The new manager is Of a loose cannon.

What about this example?

Sentence politicians often worry about loose cannons in their party, who

might make controversial statements.

Ooh, you gotta be careful.

We're not really sure what he's going to say.

And what about sentence number three, the team decided not to hire him.

Fearing his reputation as a loose cannon would disrupt their workplace harmony.

Whoo.

We got to be careful.

We can't hire him.

Excellent.

Again, number five is a loose cannon.
