Powerful Money Idioms and Phrases in English - Learn Money Idioms

you become great at learning english today's  topic is idioms which i think is a really fun  

topic to talk about because native speakers of  english use a lot of idioms in their everyday  

speech and there are lots of different kinds of  idioms but today's topic will be money idioms  

which have many different meanings and these  are very common idioms that we use a lot  

sometimes every day and our  first idiom is bang for your buck  

bang for your buck means to get  very good value for your money  

and in this in this idiom the word buck it means  currency or money so let's look at an example here  

wow i had a coupon for an extra pair of shoes  i was able to get two pairs of shoes for the  

price of one pair that's bang for your buck  and our next idiom is cost an arm and a leg

this means the that the cost of an item or items  is very high and usually unreasonably high right  

so really too high for you to afford so let's look  at an example i could only find one person selling  

apples so i bought one it cost me an arm and a  leg alright and our next idiom is cut one's losses  

cut one's losses means to stop doing  something before you lose more money  

usually after you have already lost some  money maybe even just a little bit of money  

so for example the company decided to cut its  losses and abandon the project it already lost  

money and didn't want to lose more and our  next idiom is pour money down the drain  

this means to throw away or waste  money or to not spend money wisely  

okay and sometimes this this can be  subjective right or it can be your opinion  

okay but we use this idiom to tell people  if they're not being smart with their money  

so for example i know a person who  buys a new car every six months  

he's just pouring money down the drain our  final idiom for this video is penny pincher  

a penny pincher is someone who doesn't like to  spend much money even small amounts of money  

so for example some people call me a  penny pincher because i always order
