How and when do we link vowel sounds with a /w/?

I asked how and when we link with a /w/.

母音をＷでつなぐのは いつか質問しました

And there's your first clue.

ヒントを出します

"How" is spelled with a final W.

「How」の最後のつづりはＷで 二重母音ＯＷの音でおわります

And it ends with an "ow" diphthong.

So allow your lips to form the /w/

Ｗの形の唇を作ったら 次に続く母音につなげます

and release it into the following vowel sound.

"owand"

There are three vowel sounds that link with the help of a /w/.

Ｗでつながる母音は３つです

The first you already know.

１つ目は先述の二重母音ＯＷ 「hOW And when」

The diphthong "ow." As in "how and when."

Second, the long U..."blue"..."blue and"..."blue and white."

２つ目は長母音Ｕ 「blUE And white」

And the long O..."no"..."no one."

３つ目は長母音Ｏです 「nO One」

Listen closely.

これから私が言うフレーズを 聞き取ってみてください

I'll say a sentence or phrase.

You try to understand.

Note that some might also say:

「She's nice t' others」 という言い方もあって

She's nice t' others.

And it sounds like they drop the vowel sound in "to" altogether.

この場合には 「to」の母音が脱落します
