Consistency Is Key in Language Learning

Sometimes there's this idea that good  language learners learn fast. The faster,  

the better. It becomes a race to fluency. How fast  can you become fluent? Let me tell you something.  

Consistency is more important than speed. Are you  making a consistent effort? Are you putting in a  

quality effort consistently? If you have the time  and opportunity to study intensively every day,  

you will make more progress than if you study  only once a week. In college, I studied Russian  

five days a week and then later Japanese five  days a week. Right now as a Spanish student,  

I take classes twice a week, and I meet  with a private tutor usually once a week.  

I practice a little on my own every day, and  that's how I make progress. I'm showing up,  

and I'm being consistent. There will  always be someone moving at a faster  

or slower pace than you. That's okay.  Focus on a pace that works for you. Don't  

worry so much about how fast you're learning.  Focus more on your effort. Are you making a  

quality effort consistently? Enjoy the experience.  That's what's important. Create happy studies!
