British Bitesize Lesson #2: SQUASH

hello this is the second part of my gift

to you especially for christmas i am

giving you 25 bite-sized lessons and

today's session is all about the word

squash or squeeze squash is a game which

you play with rackets on a court you can

play two player 3 player or even four

player i play regularly at my local

squash club and I really enjoy it it's

very good for your health

you can also eat a squash. A squash is a type

of vegetable I don't eat very often

because I don't know how to cut it up

easily and cook it easily. You can also

be squashed or feel squashed or give

someone a squeeze

so to squash is to confine or pressurize

something on all sides squash it down i

talk about giving somebody a squeeze

sometimes and I mean a hug so I wrap my

arms around them and give them a tight

squeeze

so i might say give me a squeeze

and that means give me a hug or if

you're going to work during rush hour

and lots of people are getting on the

train

you might have to all squeeze in and you

might feel a bit squashed I hate being

squashed on the train

let's hope that this year i'm able to

squeeze all the presents that i bought

for everybody into my car because if I

can't I don't know what I'm going to do

finally we also talked about squeezing

someone in or squeezing it in when we're

talking about an event or meeting so

this is when you don't have much time

and someone says could we meet up for

coffee or would you like to go see a

play or can we have a meeting on a

certain day and you look at your diary

and you say or I'm quite busy but I'll

see if I can squeeze it in

that means trying to make time by

compacting everything down and putting

that event into your diary so i'll try

and squeeze you in or are try and

squeeze it in

so we complain squash we can eat squash

we can be squashed and we could try to

squeeze it in
