How To Use Advanced English Fluently

is the same basically you should be looking at  uh two things the first one is what I call flu

y triggers and this means really understanding  the vocabulary uh even just individual words

and phrases by themselves uh making sure that you  really understand like a native rather than trying

is the naturally varied review where you you take  things that you understand pretty well and then

you start seeing them in different contexts and  the whole thing works together to develop your

time we did uh verbs and uh what was that verbs  and prepositions so we we were contrasting that

basically the same uh but we really want to make  sure people understand all these things uh what

we'll be doing today these are called collocations  uh and collocations just refer to uh groups of  

faremo oggi, queste sono chiamate collocazioni uh e le collocazioni si riferiscono semplicemente a uh gruppi

of words so maybe particular phrases uh in this  case we'll be looking at two word uh phrases just

something nice and short simple uh but these are  things that natives commonly use together and one

of the things you learn as you start understanding  the language more like a native is you start

recognizing patterns like this now if you have  someone like me who can actually just tell you

what these patterns are help you recognize these  things a lot faster then you get fluent faster but

uh typically the way people learn uh even native  speakers learning The Language by themselves uh

like a child will hear one example of something  and then maybe they will hear a different example

but they're not really getting these examples  as quickly as possible and if you can get them

quickly then you're going to get fluent faster  all right uh so who would like to pick I'll let

you guys start with any space on the board here  uh again we don't necessarily need to do them in

right but let's take reason uh let's start with a  complex reason all right Tom has the same idea so

a complex reason over here so here we're going to  read this word is complex meaning you've got uh

like kind of different things or something could  be complicated so if we imagine a person here

I'm just going to draw a little person here uh and  they're thinking maybe they have let's see so they

actually have like you know many different reasons  for wanting to do something like here's number one

complex reason for doing something it could have  have you know many reasons for that or I could

the correct way to think about something uh but  this is to have a complex reason so I might have

the the contract with this would be having a  simple reason for this but having a complex

there are more pieces to this same idea to have a  complex reason a complex reason so typically like

it very well all right so sometimes you feel that  way so to contrast that with a clear emotion it's

it's it's easy to express what the thing is I'm  very happy I'm very sad so it could be sad if we

what did Tom mentioned before negative reaction  negative reaction let's look at that one though

all right so this is an interesting thing and  again you can probably contrast this quite easy

easily uh let's say I eat uh so this is me and  I try uh I don't know some well I I'll tell I'll

like so it's a little a little chocolate thing  with some with some peanut butter on the inside

of it a peanut butter cup and this is one of my  favorite uh sweets and even when I was a kid it

was one of my favorites as well I don't I can't  really find them very easily in uh in Japan but

but uh well it's it's supposed to be a little  round if you look at it from the top it's like

this so it's it's because of the paper it gives  that that like in andout shape or whatever but

that's what it looks like um so it's hard for me  to find in Japan although I did find one recently

I was excited about that so I had one uh it was  like I haven't had one in I don't know I had not
