5 English Fluency Bits That Impress Native English Speakers

this is something important I teach that

native speakers use for a number of

reasons these are really phrases that

native speakers use to either sound a

bit more conversational or to sound more

intelligent and they can also form as

advanced sentence connectors one

important thing to note with English

fluency bits is a function like idioms

as it's a complete phrase you should be

using but at the same time an idiom is

something that maybe you won't really

understand the meaning of without having

someone teach it to you

so I've given the example before up to

kick the bucket which means to die but

there is nothing about that sentence

that gives you a clue about its meaning

in english fluency bit on the other hand

you might have to learn more of these

but the meaning is quite

self-explanatory you can understand what

the meaning is just by looking at the

words and they're fairly easy to

understand but if you can learn to use

them and add them to your sentences they

really add a lot of color and flavor and

make your sentences sound a lot more

regular conversations and will replace

wrong and then we go into the sentence

the rain so maybe you see someone walk

outside and it's rainy and you're saying

hey you should take your umbrella

don't you need an umbrella when you're

going out in the rain so correct me if

I'm wrong just means maybe I'm making

mistakes I don't want to be too forceful

with what I'm saying but at the same

time I want to give my opinion or ask

again just to make sure I understand

everything so correct me if I'm wrong

correct me if I'm wrong

our next English fluency bit is just to

clarify listen carefully to how this

blend just to clarify again we've got

the tea from just and the two from to

we've got just to clarify so we only use

one of these sounds just to clarify just

to clarify and to clarify something

means to make it clear or obvious or

understood so just to clarify could you

please explain a bit more about what you

want to do some asking for someone else

to help me understand something but it's

also quite sneaky way in a conversation

to ask someone maybe to restate

something or to give them the

opportunity to rephrase or even really

or i could say i like the way in which

we're saying the exact same thing but by

using the English fluency bit the way in

which we found much more educated and

intelligent again again again there are

always multiple ways of saying things

and you really are expressing the exact

same idea but the way you sound is

really important and if you choose the

right words that will impress other

native speakers as well as just you make

you sound more intelligent in general

finally instead of just using consider

the verb to consider you can say to take

into account to take something into

account as an example I might say

considering we don't have much training

it's probably not a good idea to climb

the mountain today considering we don't

have much training is probably not a

good idea to climb the mountain today

now instead of saying consider I could

say taking into account that we don't

have much training we probably shouldn't

climb the mountain today these are both

again the exact same thing you can

consider something or you can take it

into account but it does sound much more

native and natural when you can take

something into account

well I hope you take all of these

you do consider using them that you take

them into account when you're in your

conversations and actually try using

them the more you can practice with

these and you can begin by using them in

your writing or if you're texting

someone try using them but remember to

be appropriate for the situation English

fluency bits are most useful for

academic and professional situations

although you can use them in everyday

sense but try to tailor your language or

try to use the right language for the

right situation and again if you're at

McDonalds or whatever you don't need to

try to sound overly intelligent but in a

professional situation you can

definitely

use these and people will really be

impressed with the way you speak and
