English Addict ( Quick Fix 12 ) Monday 18th October 2021- Live Chat from England with Mr Duncan

i really don't know what has  happened to me today i feel so tired  

can you believe 20 minutes ago i was lying  on the bed asleep having a beautiful dream  

something really nice was happening to  me then suddenly i woke up with a start  

that means with a shock or a jump and i realized  that i was supposed to be on doing a live stream  

at two o'clock so i rushed up the  stairs i dashed into the studio  

no i rushed down the stairs you see can you see  what a terrible state i am in today i don't know  

what's happening my brain is only half working  at the moment i don't know why but look outside  

look at the weather it's quite miserable it's dull  it's dismal we've had quite a lot of rain today  

and everything is looking a little bit  gloomy here we go we're back together again  

and it is english addict with a very  sleepy mr duncan coming to you live  

from the birthplace of the english  language which just happens to be

england

what a lovely dream i was having  i was on a beautiful island  

the sun was shining in front of me a cool  refreshing drink and the the gentle breeze  

from the sea was blowing past my face oh very  nice and mr steve was there as well so it wasn't  

a complete dream it was also a little bit of a  nightmare as well hi everybody this is a very  

sleepy mr duncan in england how are you today  are you okay i hope so are you happy i hope so  

do you ever have a day like this where you wake up  in the morning and it seems as if you can't wake  

up and i'm having that day now i think yesterday  what happened i actually burned myself out  

i think i burnt myself out yesterday because i  was so energetic on yesterday's live stream did  

you see it i think yesterday's live stream must  have been one of the most lively and dare i say

funny can i say funny was it funny do  you think it was funny yesterday but  

it was something anyway and i think  i used so much energy up yesterday  

i've i've literally burnt myself out my brain  is like a little one of those little meteorites  

when it falls from the sky and it lands on  the earth and it's all burnt out smouldering

that is what my brain looks like  at the moment it certainly feels  

like it here we go yes we are back together again  my name is duncan i'm not normally this sleepy  

normally i'm very lively and awake but today  it really does feel as if i've had no sleep  

how is that possible i had a lovely sleep last  night i was completely tired out yesterday and  

i did mention yesterday that i do like to go and  have a lie down on the bed in the afternoon now

but today i don't know what's  happened i think yesterday i just  

i just used all of my energy and mr steve  yesterday was a little bit crazy as well  

if you haven't seen yesterday's  live stream with myself and steve

it was a little different let's just say  

here we are then yes it's a start of another  week my name is duncan i talk about english  

you might say that i am an english addict  i do like english and i've been doing  

these lessons these videos these live streams  for a very long time can you guess how long

it says it there on the top of my hat 15  years goodness me yes we've made it all  

the way to the beginning of another week  without blowing ourselves up it's monday

do you know what this reminds me of  it reminds me of when i was at school  

and i don't know why but i hated the afternoon  i always hated the afternoon in the classroom  

at school so afternoon lessons and i  don't know why but they always gave us  

boring lessons in the afternoon which  only made us feel even more sleepy  

but i remember i i hated sitting in the classroom  in the afternoon because not only myself but other  

people in the class would also become sleepy  and it was very hard to keep your head upright  

and now and again it would look like that you  would just slump onto the desk and you hoped  

that the teacher didn't notice that you were  closing your eyes during his lesson or her lesson

and that's how i feel today i feel as if i'm  back in my mathematics class with mr west  

and i'm finding it so difficult to  pay attention and keep my eyes open  

during the lesson and sometimes he would shout  at me he would point his finger at me and scold  

me for not paying attention but that was pretty  pretty usual for me you see i was not very good  

at paying attention in the classrooms at school  all of my classes the only class i really enjoyed  

well in fact maybe two two classes that i  enjoyed at school art which i loved i had  

the most amazing art teacher mr stevenson he was  such a brilliant guy and english i supposed i i  

yes i enjoyed my english class as well with miss  miss ryder she was all right as well and science  

so maybe three i enjoyed science as well  that was quite good i wasn't very good at it  

but i did enjoy it some people say mr duncan your  english teaching is very similar to that you enjoy  

it but you're not very good at it charming so  here we are again yes we are back with our special  

series of live streams we have a whole season  of live streams don't forget i am with you  

during october from monday to friday 2 p.m uk time  with my english addict quick fix just short live  

streams as a way of commemorating my 15 years on  youtube so you can catch me live from 2pm uk time  

from monday to friday and of course sunday  as well here we have the anagram for today  

now this is a little more difficult i've decided  to make this harder this is actually three words  

and what i've done is i've jumbled them all  up and i've made it into one continuous word  

although it doesn't make any sense so what  you have to do is work out what this anagram  

is and it consists of three words  so i have made it a little harder oh

because i thought i made it easy last week  

so this week i've decided to make it a little bit  more difficult what do you think about them apples

week i'm sure i mentioned this last monday a lot  of people don't like mondays i don't really care  

about mondays very much either they can come and  then they go and i don't really think much about

mr duncan your memory is very good i remember  a lot of things from my past and sometimes i  

don't know if this happens to you but sometimes  memories from my past and maybe things that i'd  

forgotten pop up in my mind little moments of  time that play in your mind like a short video  

little moments of time for example i i remember  a moment from my life where i was eating  

an iced lolly so it's basically a piece of ice  on a stick normally flavoured with fruit juice  

and i remember i was with my mother and i was  walking along and i i stumbled i tripped and i  

was walking on on this hard concrete surface and  i slipped over and i i hurt my knee because i was  

wearing shorts and all of my knee was was bleeding  it was quite a nasty nasty scar that i left there  

but the thing i really remember about that moment  was the fact that i lost my lovely iced lolly  

my little lollipop made of ice fell to the ground  so i remember being really upset about that  

i was more upset about my lovely iced lolly  

than i was about my knee so i was actually  crying and getting upset because i had i  

dropped my lovely iced lolly on the floor so  there it is one of my strange little memories

city i've stood underneath the the enormous  Petronas towers i remember when the Petronas  

towers were the largest or or tallest buildings  in the world because there's two of them you see  

so the Petronas towers are actually two towers  joined together with a little bridge in the middle  

so i remember when that that was actually  the tallest building in the world because  

i was there in malaysia at the time  i've been to malaysia many times

well guess what i know about alex d  as well and he does some great work  

on youtube not only teaching english but also  teaching english using music and songs and he  

has a very happy lively personality so yes i know  him very well from watching his videos on youtube

it is a very strange day here in england after  yesterday because yesterday's weather was quite  

nice and on saturday it was glorious but today  really does feel like autumn if you look at this  

image now this is a live image looking out of  my window you can see it almost looks tropical  

there is mist hanging in the distance it's very  humid not warm but it is mild it does feel mild  

today but it almost feels like i'm in some  tropical jungle somewhere it's very unusual in  

fact so that's the view today i really hope i feel  better tomorrow i hope i'm more lively tomorrow

about the aeroplane that went missing mh370  well there is a little story that goes with that  

from my own personal experience because the same  time that airplane vanished i was also flying  

with malaysian airlines so i was  flying to malaysia at the same time  

as mh 370 vanished and i arrived the next day at  kuala lumpur I switched my phone on and my phone  

lit up with lots of messages from people  asking are you okay we've just seen the news  

something's happened with with a an airplane  from malaysian airlines are you okay please reply  

so i did receive a lot of messages after  i arrived at the other end in kuala lumpur  

and yes at the same time as my flight mh370  vanished without trace and to this very day  

there is still no no sign of of the plane  or the passengers really really tragic

so for around about a year i had  no live captions i don't know why

oh a lot of people are  trying to solve my anagram um  

interesting so this is actually three words but  i've mixed all of the letters together to form one  

puzzle so i decided to make it a little bit  easier today just a little bit more easy  

how many words are in the anagram three  words are contained in the anagram  

three words and i will give you a clue the  second word has two letters ah so i'm giving  

you a clue here i don't want to make it  too difficult the second word has two

letters yes the captions come up  slowly because it's live you see  

it's very hard to have captions that come up  straight away when you're speaking live because it  

takes a few seconds there is always a slight delay  between what i say and the captions appearing

something that was not planned something that  happened without any planning taking place  

yes you have around about three  seconds maybe three seconds of delay

it's very similar to television well there is  a slight delay anyway when you're watching a  

live stream because of all of the technology  that is being used that all of the signals the  

picture and the sound has to go through that  technology and that creates a slight delay  

and we call that latency so latency is the delay  that is caused by the processing of the signal so  

this you are watching now is being processed by  computers and machines and my camera and all of  

the things in my studio and also at youtube in the  united states so a lot of things going on you see  

oh i was busy yes i was busy and i saw the live  stream two hours after it ended oh good i'm glad  

you saw it it was a very busy one yesterday  we did talk about a lot of stuff yesterday
