I have noticed that many of you are still  confusing the 'ed' and 'ing' adjectives.

Okay! Let's start by looking at  what a participle adjective is.

좋아요! 분사형 형용사가 무엇인지부터 살펴보겠습니다.

A participle adjective, also  called participial adjective,

분사 형용사라고도 하는 분사 형용사는

is an adjective from a verb root. 

동사 루트의 형용사입니다.

For example the verb 'to interest'  has two participle adjectives:

예를 들어 동사 'to Interest'에는

Present Participle 'interesting', and Past Participle 'interested'.

현재 분사 'interesting'과 과거 분사 'interested'라는 두 개의 분사 형용사가 있습니다.

Okay, let's look at usage now.

자, 이제 사용법을 살펴보겠습니다.

Let's say that the sentence  is: History interests me.

문장이 다음과 같다고 가정해 보겠습니다. History is Interest me.

History is the subject.

역사가 주제입니다.

History is generating interest in me.

역사는 나에게 관심을 불러일으키고 있습니다.

So, we should use the Present Participle:  History is interesting.

따라서 현재 분사를 사용해야 합니다. History is Interest.

'Me' is the object.

'나'는 개체입니다.

The action is affecting me.

행동이 나에게 영향을 미치고 있습니다.

So, now we should use the Past  Participle: I am interested in history.

이제 우리는 과거 분사를 사용해야 합니다 : I am Interest in history.

The most common mistake I  hear is using Present Participle 

내가 듣는 가장 흔한 실수는

'interesting' instead of Past Participle.

과거분사 대신 현재분사 '흥미로운'을 사용하는 것입니다.

And saying something like:  I'm interesting in history.

그리고 다음과 같이 말합니다. 저는 역사에 관심이 있습니다.

That's maybe because you think you're using the Present Continuous tense,

현재 진행 시제를 사용하고 있다고 생각하기 때문일 수 있으므로

so be careful with this.

주의하세요.

So, let's look at two more examples.

두 가지 예를 더 살펴보겠습니다.

First example: John intrigues everyone.

첫 번째 예: John은 모든 사람의 관심을 끌었습니다.

So here, both the subject  and the object are people. 

그래서 여기서 주체 와 대상은 모두 사람입니다.

John and everyone.

존과 모두.

So, let's see what you would  choose for the two sentences below.

따라서 아래 두 문장에 대해 무엇을 선택하는지 봅시다.

John is .......

John은 .......

And, everyone is ........ by John.

그리고 모두가 ........ by John입니다.

John is the subject. So, John is intriguing.

요한이 주체입니다. 그래서 John은 흥미 롭습니다.

And 'everyone' is the object. So,  everyone is intrigued by John.

그리고 '모두'가 목적어입니다. 그래서 모두가 John에게 흥미를 느낍니다.

So, for John, which is the subject, we  use the Present Participle 'intriguing'.

그래서 주어인 John에 대해서는 현재 분사 '흥미롭다'를 사용합니다.

And, for 'everyone', which is the object, we use the Past Participle 'intrigued'.

그리고 목적어인 'everyone'에는 과거분사 'intrigued'를 사용합니다.

Let's look at the second example.

두 번째 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

This situation upsets her.

이 상황은 그녀를 화나게 합니다.

So, this situation is .........

그래서, 이 상황은 .........

And, she is ......... about the situation.

그리고, 그녀는 ......... 상황에 대해.

Which adjective would you put in each sentence?

각 문장에 어떤 형용사를 넣을까요?

The situation is the subject. So, it is upsetting.

상황이 주제입니다. 여튼 속상합니다.

And, she has been affected by the situation.  So, she is upset about the situation.

그리고 그녀는 상황에 영향을 받았습니다. 그래서 그녀는 상황에 대해 화가났습니다.

So, for the situation, which is the subject, we use the Present Participle 'upsetting'.

그래서 주어가 되는 상황에 대해서는 현재분사 '섭섭하게 하다'를 사용합니다.

And for her, who is being affected  who is the object of the sentence,  

그리고 문장의 목적어가 영향을 받는 그녀에게는

we use the Past Participle 'upset'.

과거분사 'upset'을 사용합니다.

Now, remember that 'upset' is an irregular  verb. So, it's upset - upset - upset.

이제 '화나다'는 불규칙 동사임을 기억하세요 . 그래서 속상-속상-속상합니다.
