What to Do When You LOSE MOTIVATION for Learning English

Hello. This is Jack from tofluency.com. Welcome to this video we're I'm going to

talk about losing motivation because I've had a couple of emails and comments

recently from English learners telling me that they just feel bad about their

English; they don't feel like they're progressing and that they are losing

their motivation.

Now, this happens to everyone from time to time and I'm sure it has happened to

you.

Now, in my own case I sometimes lose motivation - I sometimes lose that

energy and that desire to continue working towards my goals.

Now, if this happens to you - if you start to lose motivation about learning

English, then the first thing to do is to acknowledge this; to accept it and to

actually realize that this is happening to you because sometimes we try to

ignore it.

We try to just ignore the fact that we don't feel as motivated as we usually

are.

So, once you accept the fact that you don't feel as motivated as usual,

what i recommend doing is taking a break for a day, two days, three days -

take some time off from learning English.

Just get away from it for a while and that break, that rest might be exactly

what you need to get your energy and your motivation back.

This is what I do when I feel bad about my goals when I don't feel motivated.

I just forget about them for a couple of days so that i can get away from them

and get some space.

The next thing to do is to think about why you don't feel motivated and they're

usually two reasons for this:

Firstly, you might not be making any progress with your English. And when you're

not progressing, then it's difficult to feel like this is a worthwhile goal; that

you can actually do this.

The second reason might be

that it's just not fun for you at the moment, and you're doing things that you

don't enjoy, and you feel stressed about learning English instead of enjoying the

process. After thinking about this for a while,

what you can do next is to start again -

create a new fluency plan that is going to take you to the level you want to be

at.

Now, this is where I can really help you. And you probably already have my

five-step plan for English fluency - and if you have it already

then reread it. If you don't have this, then you can get it for free.

This five-step plan is going to help you because initially it teaches you that

it's important to have a goal with a deadline.

Secondly, it's going to help you understand the reasons why you are learning English

so that you can stay motivated throughout the entire process. And it's

going to help you realize exactly what you need to do in order to progress so

that you can feel motivated about doing the right things.

Then, it will show you how you can incorporate this into your own life and

make it fun and then, it's going to show you how to stay consistent and how to

take action over the long term.
