Learn English Contractions using OF | Grammar and Pronunciation

In today's video, I’m going  to be telling you about some  

నేటి వీడియోలో, 'ఆఫ్' అనే పదంతో సహా

informal contractions including the word ‘of’. 

కొన్ని అనధికారిక సంకోచాల గురించి నేను మీకు చెప్పబోతున్నాను

Now, it's important to remember that these  types of contractions are just for conversation. 

. ఇప్పుడు, ఈ రకమైన సంకోచాలు కేవలం సంభాషణ కోసం మాత్రమే అని గుర్తుంచుకోవడం ముఖ్యం.

You don't want to use them in writing. So pay close attention.

And if you memorize how to say these  contractions, you’re gonna start sounding

Let’s take a look.

Alright, let’s take a look at my list of  common contractions including the word ‘of’.

Now, in this list, instead of saying  ‘of’,

ఇప్పుడు, ఈ జాబితాలో, 'ఆఫ్' అని చెప్పడానికి బదులుగా,

we're going to use the ‘schwa’ sound, the kind of ‘uh’ sound  to make these contractions. 

ఈ సంకోచాలను చేయడానికి మేము 'స్చ్వా' సౌండ్‌ని, 'ఉహ్' సౌండ్‌ని ఉపయోగించబోతున్నాము.

I have six examples. I’ll say each of them twice. 

నాకు ఆరు ఉదాహరణలు ఉన్నాయి. నేను ఒక్కొక్కటి రెండుసార్లు చెబుతాను.

The first time, I’ll say it slowly.

మొదటిసారి, నేను నెమ్మదిగా చెబుతాను.

The second time, I’ll say it at  a normal speed like a native speaker.

రెండవసారి, నేను స్థానిక స్పీకర్ లాగా సాధారణ వేగంతో చెబుతాను.

It's really important that you repeat after me out loud each time.

మీరు ప్రతిసారీ బిగ్గరగా నా తర్వాత పునరావృతం చేయడం చాలా ముఖ్యం.

Here we go.

Okay, first one. ‘kind of’ = ‘kinda’ 

సరే, మొదటిది. 'రకమైన' = 'కొంచెం'

‘She's kinda cute.’ ‘She's kinda cute.’ 

'ఆమె కాస్త ముద్దుగా ఉంది.' 'ఆమె కాస్త ముద్దుగా ఉంది.'

Next. ‘sort of’ = ‘sorta’ ‘I’m sorta tired’ 

తదుపరి. 'sort of' = 'sorta' 'నేను చాలా అలసిపోయాను'

‘I’m sorta tired’ 

'నేను చాలా అలసిపోయాను'

‘out of’ = ‘outta’ ‘I’m outta money.’ 

'out of' = 'outta' 'నేను డబ్బు బయట ఉన్నాను.'

‘I’m outta money.’ ‘a lot of’ = ‘alotta’ 

'నాకు డబ్బు లేదు.' 'a lot of' = 'alotta'

‘They ate alotta cake.’ ‘They ate alotta cake.’ 

'వారు అలోట్టా కేక్ తిన్నారు.' 'వారు అలోటా కేక్ తిన్నారు.'

‘lots of’ = ‘lotsa’ ‘He has lotsa money.’ 

'lots of' = 'lotsa' 'అతని దగ్గర చాలా డబ్బు ఉంది.'

‘He has lotsa money.’ 

అతని దగ్గర చాలా డబ్బు ఉంది.

Last one. ‘cup of’ = ‘cuppa’ 

చివరిది. 'cup of' = 'cuppa'

‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ ‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ 

'మీకు కప్పు కాఫీ కావాలా?' 'మీకు కప్పు కాఫీ కావాలా?'

Did you guys hear that schwa that ‘uh’ sound?

అబ్బాయిలు ఆ స్క్వా ఆ 'ఉహ్' శబ్దాన్ని విన్నారా?

Alright, great job. Let's move on.

సరే, గొప్ప పని. ముందుకు వెళ్దాం.

All right, let's take a look at a few dialogues.

సరే, కొన్ని డైలాగ్స్ చూద్దాం.

And really pay close attention to these because I promise if you do it's going to  help you master these contractions.

Yes, these ones. “It's getting kinda hot.”

“Yes, we need to drink alotta water.” 

"అవును, మనం అలోటా నీరు త్రాగాలి."

Conversation 3. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

సంభాషణ 3. వీటిలో దేనిని సంకోచంగా మార్చవచ్చు?

Yes, these ones. “I’m sorta tired.” 

అవును, ఇవి. "నేను చాలా అలసిపోయాను."

“Go home and get lotsa rest.” 

"ఇంటికి వెళ్ళి చాలా విశ్రాంతి తీసుకో."
