let's look at an expression that we use to  indicate that you or a group of people will

attend an event will arrive at an event and  the phrase is show up show up somewhere so

you can say you will show up for an event in the  future and you can say that you showed up when

and another example i was so tired last night  i had to bail so i had to leave so that's again

talking about the past all right so those are  our slang phrases i'm gain i'm down i'm in

fantastic a difference a lesson on the  difference between to lie and to lay okay so

this is a classic one that uh my  grandmother would often uh complain about

if people would make a mistake between telling  somebody to lie down or to lay down what is the  

difference between lie down or lay down or you can  also say lay and lie so there is um there is some

confusion here okay uh and there are different  reasons why there are uh confusions uh one

is that there are separate words lie down and lay  down but lay is also the past tense of the verb

the same way is also the past tense of that  verb lie so you can say i lay down uh yesterday

because you're using the past here but in  general um you're going to want to say lie

down like i need to lie down uh later later  and you would say lie and not lay because
