English Suffixes -Y -ISH -ESQUE - Learn English Grammar

Today we're going to do some awesome suffixes

오늘은 멋진 접미사를 사용하겠습니다

To describe things like weather, you can use the suffix "Y"

. 날씨와 같은 것을 설명하려면 접미사 "Y"를 사용할 수 있습니다.

But you can also use this to describe people's appearance

하지만 사람의 외모를 설명하기 위해 접미사를 사용할 수도 있습니다.

For example:

If somebody has a lot of hair

They are "hairy"

Or another example "Shiny" or like the guy in twilight "Sparkly"

또 다른 예 "Shiny" 또는 twilight의 남자 "Sparkly"처럼

Notice you're putting a noun with the letter "Y"

명사에 문자 "Y"를 붙이고 있습니다.

So you can also describe tastes and smells

따라서 맛과 냄새도 설명할 수 있습니다.

For example:

This tastes fishy

Or lemony

Or my tea is milky

So those are most common for tastes and smells,

맛과 냄새에 대해 가장 일반적이지만

But for colours and times, we add "ISH"

색상과 시간에 대해서는 "ISH"를 추가합니다.

This means not exactly that colour or time, but, more or less

이것은 정확히 그 색상이나 시간이 아니라 다소간 그렇다는 것을 의미합니다.

For example:

예를 들면:

So she's asking "What colour are my eyes?"

그래서 그녀는 "내 눈은 무슨 색입니까?"

He can say "Not exactly green, not exactly blue"

그는 "정확히 녹색도, 정확히 파란색도 아님"이라고 말할 수 있습니다.

Greenish bluish

푸르스름한 푸르스름한 시간에 사람들을

If you're not good with meeting people on time

만나는 것이 좋지 않다면

"Let's meet at 8ish"

"8시에 만나자"

Not exactly eight, maybe a bit before, maybe a bit after, ...eight-ish!

정확히 8시가 아니라, 어쩌면 조금 전, 아마도 조금 후에, ...8- 쉿!

You can also just use "ish" alone

그냥 "ish"만 사용할 수도 있습니다.

For example:

예:

"Are they good-looking?"

"Are they good-looking?"

"Ish"

"이쉬"

"Was the movie good?"

"영화 좋았어?"

"Ish"

"Ish"

Remember: "ish" is kind of informal

기억하세요: "ish"는 일종의 비공식적인

...or informal-ish

...or informal-ish입니다.

But to say that something is in the style of something in a more formal way

그러나 무언가가 좀 더 형식적인 방식으로 어떤 스타일에 있다고 말할 때는 다음과 같이

You can say: "Esque"

말할 수 있습니다. "Esque"

For example:

예를 들면:

This church is in the style of a Roman Church

이 교회는 로마 교회의 스타일

It's "Romanesque"

그것은 "로마네스크"입니다. "아라베스크"

If something's in an Arab style in "Arabesque"

에서 무언가 아랍 스타일이라면

If something sounds like it's from a Kafka novel, It's Kafkaesque!

카프카 소설에서 나온 것처럼 들리면 그것은 카프카스크입니다!
