How to Say Though Thought Taught & Reiterate - American English Pronunciation & Intonation

in this video I'll answer some more

questions that I receive from fans on

the English anyone com Facebook page so

thanks Joel and Diego our big tip for

this video is to focus on the broader

picture the intonation the larger kind

of music to the language of English

every language has its own flavor so

Japanese are Italian or English they all

sound different and when you listen to

different languages even if you don't

understand the words your brain

understands ah there's a specific kind

of music to this language so with

English as an example you can take just

one sound and even listening to the way

I'm speaking right now buh buh buh buh

buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh

buh buh buh buh buh even listening to

the way I'm speaking right now even

listening to the way I'm speaking right

now speaking right now bbbb bbbb bbbb

when you listen to something like this

you're taking just one sound and

listening to the pronunciation interest

trying to make the the speed or the tone

or the music of the language in general

so let's do this with a few of the

phrases i received from people asking on

facebook the first is i'd like to

reiterate that last point again we begin

by saying something in a more robotic

way just so you can hear what every word

is I'd like to reiterate that last point

reiterate means to say something again

to make something really important but

when we're pronouncing it as a regular

casual conversational speaker reiterate

reiterate with a slight t at the end or

reiterate without even the T saying that

obviously every person every speaker has

their own way of speaking but English in

general has this kind of melody to it

and if you listen for this again without

listening for individual words just take

the tone in the pitch and listen to how

people are speaking reiterate I'd like

bit of a tongue twister but though I

thought that's what you were taught

like though and thought and thought but

when we're pronouncing them we blend

them all together though I thought

often the tea will disappear in these

words like thought and taught when we're

just pronouncing it conversationally and

again the two reasons for this number

one because people already understand

what we're saying I don't need to say

thought because people understand what

I'm saying I can just say thought yeah I

thought you were coming yesterday I

thought you were coming yesterday I

thought you were coming yesterday

because people already understand what

I'm saying and the second reason is

because I just want to speak faster I

thought that's what you were saying I

thought that's what you were saying

though I thought that's what you were

taught though I thought that's what you

were taught again ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba you can really

hear this a lot when you listen to new

so if you're watching a TV news show

just listen to the way people speak but

blue blue blue blue the blue people will

always speak like that on the news

because they have specific training like

that and people understand if you go to

your friends and just make that blah

blah blah blah blah blah or like an

entertainment show they will do that

same kind of speaking and you can

understand that it's an American

typically an English speaker that's

speaking in that way because that's how

they've been taught so when you review

sentences if you're really trying to get

the broader intonation so that you can

make better sentences that sound more

native just focus on one sound and

practice making these sentences well
