How to pronounce Cappuccino, Latte and Espresso in English

Eat Sleep Dreamers, welcome to another pronunciation lesson with Tom.

Today we're going to be looking at different types of coffee and how to say it.

Now let's start off with the word 'Coffee'.

Two sounds, Coffee.

You blend them together, you get the word.

Ok, so let's try it 'Coffee' and the stress is on the first syllable 'Coffee'.

Now obviously many of these words we use for coffee are from Italian, they are Italian

words so we don't say it as maybe the Italians would say it, we say it in a British English

way.

So this is a 'Cappuccino'.

Now there are, let's see how many syllables we've got.

We've got Cappuccino, ok?

So four syllables 'Cappuccino'.

The stress is on the third 'Cappuccino'.

Ok, another popular type of coffee is a 'Latte'.

Now a latte is different from a cappuccino.

A cappuccino has half milk and half foam whereas a latte has more milk and a little less foam.

Let's say that word together 'Latte'.

A very popular one at the moment, in England certainly, is 'Flat White' so the stress is

on the white there 'Flat White'.

I think that's from Australia, I think it's sort of been imported.

It's delicious, frankly.

And then if you just have a little shot of coffee it's called an 'Espresso'.

Ok, let's try one more time 'Espresso'.
