The S stands for Start.

So how do you start?

Of course, with a greeting and your name.

That's easy, right?

I would say hi, my name's Jennifer.

My name is my names.

Or I would say hi, I'm Jennifer.

I use both interchangeably.

You probably know other greetings at  the most formal would simply be hello,

We add there when you don't know the person's  name or if you're addressing a group.

And the most casual would be, hey,  now, in a professional situation,

Now, in this case, you might add your last name.

In a more professional situation,  my name's Jennifer Forrest.

But in casual situations, I  would say, hi, I'm Jennifer.

Now notice my name has more than one syllable.

In North America, people love reducing names  to just one syllable or using a nickname.

So if I do reduce my name or use a nickname, I  could add you can call me Jen or I go by Jen.

So someone might ask you, or you can  ask someone else, what do you go by?

These are the questions you might be asked,

An important point in American English.

Don't say I'm called Jennifer.

Yes, you can say you can call me Jen to  introduce a nickname or a shortened name,

but don't say I'm called Jen.

I'm called Jennifer.

Now back to our start model.

Let's move on to T territory.

So we'll talk about geography, place you can say  I'm originally from, and then the city or country.

I've been living in city or country for  number of years, so we'll put this together.

You can also use the present  perfect and say I've lived.

So you can talk about work or hobbies or both.

First, let's review work.

Now the questions you might be asked or  that you can ask someone, what do you do?

Students often stare at me  when I say what do you do?

This is what do you do for a living?

For a living.

But most of the time we just say what do you do?

It's not common for someone  to say in social situations

You could say I'm an avid cyclist and avid means  you cycle a lot, you're passionate about it.

Here's a phrase you need to know I'm  looking forward to and then a gerund verb.

은 내가 기대하고 있다는 것을 알아야 할 문구와 동명사입니다 .

I'm looking forward to connecting with everyone.

나는 모든 사람들과의 연결을 기대하고 있습니다.

Or you could say I'm looking forward  to something, the presentation on AI.

아니면 AI에 관한 프레젠테이션을 기대하고 있다고 말할 수도 있습니다.

So the expression is to look forward to.

그래서 기대한다는 표현이군요.

So your verb is look.

그래서 당신의 동사는 봐입니다.

That's what you need to conjugate.

그것이 당신이 활용해야 할 것입니다.

Following this, you need a gerund verb or a noun.

다음에는 동명사 또는 명사가 필요합니다.

I conjugated my verb in the present  continuous I'm looking forward to.

나는 현재 진행형 I'm looking on to에 동사를 활용했습니다.

This is more casual.

이게 좀 더 캐주얼해요.

You can also say I look forward  to the presentation on AI.

AI에 대한 발표가 기대된다고 말할 수도 있습니다.

Here is the present simple, which sounds  more formal, but both are commonly used.

다음은 단순 현재형으로 좀 더 형식적으로 들리지만 둘 다 일반적으로 사용됩니다.

Now remember here we're connecting,  

이제 여기서 우리는 연결되고 있다는 것을 기억하세요.

so you might want to ask someone a  question to connect with them more.

따라서 더 많은 연결을 위해 누군가에게 질문을 할 수도 있습니다.

What brings you here?

무슨 일로 여기까지 왔나요?

Remember that.

기억하세요.

무슨 일로 여기까지 왔나요?

The same question you can  use in social situations.

사회적 상황에서도 동일한 질문을 사용할 수 있습니다.

What did you come here to learn?

무엇을 배우러 여기에 왔나요?

If you're at a training or a  conference or seminar, or of course,  

교육이나 회의, 세미나에 참석 중이라면 물론,

you can ask a question related to their career.

경력과 관련된 질문을 할 수 있습니다.

How long have you been a graphic designer or  

그래픽 디자이너로 일한 지 얼마나 되었나요? 아니면

what area of graphic design do  you focus on or specialize in?

그래픽 디자인의 어떤 분야 에 집중하거나 전문적으로 다루고 있나요?

Both of those are common.

둘 다 공통적입니다.

Notice that preposition change.

전치사가 바뀌었음을 주목하세요.

So now let's put all the information  from the IMPACT method together.
